Legal Counsel | Commercial in Automotive

Job Overview:
As Legal Counsel for our automotive company, you will provide comprehensive legal support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, manage legal risks, and handle various legal matters related to the automotive industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, be a qualified lawyer admitted to the Singapore Bar, and possess a deep understanding of the automotive sector's legal and regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory

• Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial and corporate matters, including contracts, mergers and acquisitions, compliance, and intellectual property.
• Advise on legal aspects of business operations, including supply chain management, distribution agreements, and dealership relationships.

Contract Management

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, distribution contracts, and service agreements.
• Ensure that contracts are legally sound and aligned with the company's strategic objectives and compliance requirements.

Regulatory Compliance

• Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international regulations affecting the automotive industry, including environmental laws, safety standards, and consumer protection laws.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and handle any legal issues or investigations that arise.

Dispute Resolution

• Manage and resolve legal disputes, including arbitration, litigation, and settlement negotiations.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and coordinate with external legal counsel when necessary.

Corporate Governance

• Support corporate governance practices, including compliance with company law, corporate filings, and shareholder matters.
• Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.

Intellectual Property

• Manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, patents, and copyrights.
• Advise on the protection and enforcement of the company’s intellectual property rights.

Risk Management

• Identify and assess legal risks associated with business activities and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
• Develop and deliver legal training to employees to raise awareness of legal and compliance issues.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law or related field; admitted to the Singapore Bar.
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a legal counsel or in a similar role, with a strong background in commercial law.
• In-depth knowledge of the automotive industry, including regulatory and compliance issues.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and managing legal disputes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical legal solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external parties.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

• Standard working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM.
• Occasional overtime may be required based on business needs.
