About Our Client

Our client is a fintech company that specializes in providing multi-currency solutions and cross-border payment services. The company leverages proprietary technology to enable businesses to price and trade goods and services in multiple currencies while reducing the risks associated with foreign exchange (FX) volatility.

They are looking for a Commercial Counsel.

Job Description

• This role reports to the Chief of Staff/Interim Chief Revenue Officer.
• Provide expert legal counsel on complex commercial transactions, with a particular focus on financial markets (FX, Forwards, and Options) and cross-border payments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a comprehensive range of commercial agreements and contracts related to cross-border remittance, virtual account issuance, FX and derivative products, and other innovative financial services.
• Ensure strict adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Collaborate effectively with sales, compliance, markets, and other internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate legal risks associated with business opportunities, while proposing sound risk management strategies.
• Serve as a trusted business partner to Sales representatives, providing proactive and strategic legal guidance.
• Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional, cross-geography teams to achieve shared objectives and drive business success.
• Maintain a deep understanding of legal developments affecting the financial services industry.

The Successful Applicant

• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience.
• Prior experience in financial institutions, major payment institutions, capital market licensed entities, or reputable law firms consulting for financial markets is highly preferred.
• Proven expertise in payments and financial markets, with a strong understanding of spot-FX, forwards, options, and ISDA.
• Proven ability to balance legal risks with business objectives, demonstrating a pragmatic and commercial approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Self-motivated and results-oriented, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
