What you'll be doing

We are seeking an experienced in-house legal counsel to join our expanding global business. Based in Singapore, the Legal Counsel will be an essential part of the corporate HQ providing legal support to all our business units both locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and assist business units on all legal matters.
• Draft, review, interpret and negotiate commercial agreements and other legal documents.
• Responsible for contract lifecycle management and the company's legal repository.
• Oversee the protection and management of the company's intellectual property, including trademarks and patents.
• Engage and coordinate with external counsel on selected legal matters, both locally and internationally.
• Track the progress of key contract negotiations and any outstanding legal cases, and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Establish and continually improve internal legal SOPs.
• Prepare legal guidance and training materials for internal stakeholders.
• Build relationships and act as the main point of contact for legal matters in the company.

Requirements
Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of related experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
• In-house experience with an international enterprise in the retail, consumer goods, or e-commerce sectors would be advantageous.
• Practice areas in commercial and labour laws preferred; familiarity with data protection and intellectual property laws would be a plus.

• Possesses business acumen, with the ability to apply a business lens to legal issues.
• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with different stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and project management skills.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple deadlines, yet remain composed under pressure.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Fluency in Mandarin is beneficial but not essential, to facilitate working with our China team.
