Legal and Compliance Counsel

Insignia Ventures Partners is an early stage technology venture fund focusing on Southeast Asia started in 2017 and manages capital from premier institutional investors including sovereign wealth funds, foundations, university endowments and renowned family offices from Asia, Europe and North America. Insignia Ventures Partners is the recipient of the "Most Innovative Early-Stage Tech Partner - Southeast Asia" (2020) from Capital Finance International, "Investor of the Year" (2019) from New Entrepreneurs Foundation, two back-to-back “VC Deal of Year” awards for Payfazz (2019) and Carro (2018) from the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association and its portfolio includes many other technology leaders in Southeast Asia. Most recently, Insignia Ventures Partners reached a first and final close for our third fund (US$516 million). As Legal and Compliance Counsel, you will be working on Legal, Compliance and Operations.

About the Position

1. Work closely with the General Counsel, external counsel and the investment team to structure, review, negotiate and close investments for primary investments, follow-on investments and divestments.
2. Assist with fund formation and fund maintenance.
3. Overseeing and executing compliance matters, including regulatory returns, responses to queries from regulators and authorities.
4. Review and maintain regulatory compliance and risk management policies and practices.
5. Advise our portfolio companies in formulating their legal and compliance framework.
6. Other ad-hoc legal and compliance-related duties.

What we are looking for

1. Bachelor's degree in law or other equivalent qualification, ideally with approximately 1-2 years of private practice experience. No prior in-house experience is required.
2. Experience in M&A and venture capital is a plus. Candidates with no venture capital experience will also be considered.
3. Strong interest in venture capital, keen to work in a lean, fast-paced environment and develop technical and commercial skills.
4. Strong communication skills, fluent in written and spoken English. Proficiency in Mandarin or Bahasa is a plus.
