JOB SUMMARY
- Supply Chain Management (SCM) is responsible for the overall commercial management of how the bank engages and spends money with its external third-party suppliers. The SCM Global Technology Team is looking for a candidate with strong leadership experience in Technology Procurement and the gravitas to engage and influence senior stakeholders within Technology & Operations (T&O).
- The successful candidate will lead a team of experienced technology sourcing professionals and be responsible for influencing and driving sourcing decisions in collaboration with senior Wealth and Retail (WRB) T&O stakeholders and related CIO/COO leadership teams.
- Leads and manages the SCM WRB Technology Services team with responsibility for managing approximately $130m of annual supplier spend across WRB.
- Manage senior relationships within WRB T&O to influence and define their vendor strategy.
- Reviews the relevant bank expense line that aligns to sourcing categories in order to understand the nature of such expenditure with the objective of optimisation and cost reduction through Supply, Demand, Governance or spend compliance actions.
- Ensures that business sourcing strategies are developed in conjunction with T&O and use them to drive greater commercial benefit for the firm.
- Support country teams in their execution of cluster/country initiatives that are aligned to the global strategy.
- Lead the execution of Strategic Sourcing initiatives that will deliver sourcing solutions that meet the needs of our bank wide stakeholders in a cost effective and optimised manner.
- Act as the interface between country sourcing teams and Group Technology sourcing for their IT related activities.
- Manages supplier risk to establish a stable supply chain that allows the bank to provide uninterrupted services to its stakeholders.
- Manage the SCM Technology Services team, ensuring a high quality of delivery across the team to support WRB T&O.
- Monitor the team’s performance against the SCM Scorecard and put actions in place throughout the year to meet Scorecard targets.
- Ensure that direct reports have development plans in place and are developing in accordance with those plans.
- Effectively manage direct reports in terms of workload management, task sharing, regular ‘one to one’ meetings, supporting deal execution as applicable and providing direct feedback.
- Own and drive the overall global SCM cost savings target for the SCM T&O.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical conduct, ensuring that Fraud and ABC risk are mitigated in all sourcing events.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
- Understand the WRB business and T&O functional strategies to enable SCM business alignment so relevant procurement strategies are developed to support and influence those needs.
- Create and maintain in conjunction with WRB T&O a sourcing strategy that includes cost reduction (including needs assessment, demand management etc.), innovation, market intelligence risk mitigation and sustainability components.
- Explore and leverage strategic supplier partnerships opportunities to further the use of preferred suppliers.
Business
- Define opportunities covering the Supply, Demand and Governance aspects of the supply chain and detail the specific actions that will optimise the consumption of the categories products or services.
- Create cost efficiencies and support expense line management by directly influencing WRB budgets.
Processes
- Lead the Global Category Managers (GCM’s) to produce best and compliant sourcing outcomes for each WRB area.
- Ensure stakeholders understand their obligations under the TPRM policy and procedures.
People & Talent
- Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners.
- Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical functions are suitably skilled and qualified for their roles ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
- Employ, engage and retain high quality people.
- Develop skill set of hub-based resource to be able to complement onshore team.
- Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
Risk Management
- Accountable to ensure that all initiatives undertaken are executed in accordance with SCB’s third party risk management policies and guidelines.
- Data Quality of all meta data is at the highest level.
- Support and execute necessary actions and deliverables to meet existing and new regulatory requirements that relate to the bank’s supplier base.
Governance
- Ensure all sourcing activities are logged correctly and are Audit ready at all times.
- Ensure the SCM WRB sourcing activities are always audit ready.

Key Stakeholders
Our Ideal Candidate
- 12+ years of experience in category management in the Financial Services (FS) technology background.
- Specialisation in the Wealth & Retail Banking (WRB) portfolio is required for this role.
- Degree or equivalent qualifications in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Law.
- Professional Memberships: CIPS or similar desirable.
