Job Summary

On a daily basis you will be working closely with a team of laboratory technicians and engineers although you will largely be working independently on your testing projects.

To perform various laboratory tests on soil and rock samples from Fugro’s client projects around the world without direct supervision, using computer-controlled data logging equipment, recording data in handwritten format and entering it into bespoke data processing templates.

Key responsibilities:

1. Testing
   Perform laboratory tests on soil and rock samples as prescribed by the client to the highest level of safety and quality standards;
   Develop an understanding of whether test results are likely to pass peer review in terms of technical quality;
2. Recording data and calculating reports
   Accurately and thoroughly record test data onto test worksheets;
   Calculation of laboratory test results using simple spreadsheets;
   Send reports for review before submission to the client;
3. Equipment maintenance
   Calibration and checking of test instrumentation/equipment and maintenance of calibration records.
4. Health & Safety
   Adhere to Fugro health and safety policies at all times;
5. Procedures
   Follow all Fugro procedures and policies as required.

About you

• Good standard of general education, including 5 + GCSE’s (including English, Maths and Science) or similar qualifications
• Relevant experience in soil testing industry, preferably with minimum 1 year in laboratory testing is desired
• Good analytical ability, organizational and time management skills
• Self-driven, possess excellent team spirit and good interpersonal skills
• Preferably proficient in MS office applications
