Junior / Senior Medical Lab Technologist

Job Scope:

1. Receive and assess laboratory specimens, rejecting those that do not meet suitability criteria for analysis.

2. Prepare reagents and materials requiring special handling to ensure test reliability and accuracy.

3. Utilize the Laboratory Information System for functions including result queries, order entry, and result documentation.

4. Conduct moderate complexity tests in compliance with established laboratory protocols.

5. Immediately notify relevant laboratory personnel of any critical test values.

6. Escalate any adverse incidents to senior staff members for appropriate action.

7. Perform routine preventive maintenance on laboratory instruments and report malfunctions to designated personnel.

8. Stay up to date with evolving techniques, procedures, and equipment by attending workshops, seminars, and training sessions.

9. Demonstrate laboratory procedures to trainees and new staff.

10. Guide Laboratory Technicians, Clerical Staff and Health Attendants in their work when required.

11. Ad hoc duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1. A recognized Diploma or Degree in Biomedical / Biological / Life Sciences or equivalent.

2. Relevant experience in clinical lab setting will be an advantage.

3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
