Job description

Job Title: Java Application Support Engineer

We are hiring under Recruit Express headcount, and you will be deployed to:

Location: CBD

Pay: $4500- $5000

Duration: 1-year contract Renewable

Working Hours: Hybrid

Job Summary: The Application Support Engineer will be responsible for providing high-quality technical support for our software applications. This role requires a strong understanding of Java development, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Application Support:
    • Provide second and third-level support for Java-based applications.
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Monitor application performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Tools usage and scripting would be added advantage.
  2. Troubleshooting:
    • Analyze, identify, and resolve complex software issues.
    • Debug and troubleshoot Java code to fix defects and performance issues.
    • Utilize logs, monitoring tools, and other diagnostic methods to identify root causes.
  3. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with development teams to understand application functionalities and dependencies.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including QA, DevOps, and Product Management, to resolve issues and improve applications.
    • Communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders to provide updates and resolutions.
  4. Development and Maintenance:
    • Participate in the development and deployment of application updates and enhancements.
    • Write and maintain documentation for application support processes and procedures.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance application support and performance.
  5. Incident and Problem Management:
    • Manage and prioritize incident tickets and service requests.
    • Escalate critical issues to appropriate teams and ensure timely resolution.
    • Conduct root cause analysis and provide recommendations for preventing future incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Java development and application support.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Java and Java EE technologies.
    • Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (Spring, Hibernate).
    • Experience with databases (SQL, Oracle, MySQL) and writing complex queries.
    • Familiarity with version control systems (Git, SVN).
    • Knowledge of application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic) would be advantage.
    • Experience with monitoring tools and logging frameworks.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
