In cooperation with M&G in Singapore, we are seeking a highly motivated Investment Analyst to join our sustainable food and agriculture equity fund, full time, to be based in Singapore. In that role you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research, financial analysis, and due diligence on growth stage private companies operating in the sustainable food and agriculture sector in Southeast Asia. Your expertise and insights will directly contribute to the fund's investment decisions, ensuring the allocation of capital to impactful opportunities with high growth potential.

Your Main Tasks:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis on potential investment opportunities within the sustainable food and agriculture sectors, including analyzing financial statements, market trends, competitive landscapes, and regulatory frameworks to assess the viability and growth potential of private companies.
  • Perform comprehensive due diligence on target companies, including assessing their business models, management teams, operations, and growth strategies. Identify potential risks and opportunities associated with investments and make recommendations based on relevant findings.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, incorporating key drivers, growth assumptions, valuation metrics, and risk factors. Analyze financial projections and conduct sensitivity analyses to assess investment returns and potential downside risks.
  • Present investment recommendations to the investment team and eventually the investment committee. Communicate the rationale behind your recommendations, including the potential social and environmental impact of the investments.
  • Monitor and track the performance of existing investments within the portfolio. Provide regular reports and updates on key financial and operational metrics and address any identified emerging risks or issues that may impact investment performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic factors affecting the food and agriculture sector and provide insights and recommendations on market developments.
  • Collaborate closely with the investment team as well as legal and compliance teams in supporting to bring the deal to completion. Participate in investment team meetings and contribute to the overall investment strategy of the fund.

Your Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field of a recognized institution.
  • Previous experience as an investment analyst or research analyst in the financial services industry. M&A, private equity, venture capital, or impact investing experience would be a plus.
  • Some knowledge and passion for sustainable food and agriculture, with appreciation of the food and agriculture industry's dynamics, trends, and key players would support you in becoming successful in your job quickly.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, financial modelling, and valuation techniques.
  • Excellent research and due diligence skills, including the ability to gather and analyze data from various sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts and recommendations to audiences with varying levels of understanding of the topics.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines and cultures.
  • Familiarity with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) frameworks and their application in investment analysis would be welcome.
  • Native speaker of a Southeast Asian language, e.g. Vietnamese, Bahasa, Thai, Tagalog will be considered favorably. Proficient spoken and verbal English skills are required.
