OMERS Capital Markets

OMERS Capital Markets continues to build out its Asia Pacific investment capability out of the OMERS Singapore office. OMERS Capital Markets invests in both developed and developing markets of Asia and across the entire capital structure, with a primary focus on public markets. We also invest in private markets and partner and co-invest with third-party fund managers.

Position: Intern Analyst

As a member of the Capital Markets Asia Pacific team, the Intern Analyst position is a research role. It is tasked with enabling the team to deliver absolute return performance by investing in equities and fixed-income securities in the Asia Pacific region. Key responsibilities and contributions are centered around forensic and fundamental investment research. The Intern Analyst will be intellectually curious and a life-long learner who has strong technical experience conducting industry and company analysis, modeling, and valuation.

We are looking for students to intern for the period between January - May 2025 and will apply for Leave of Absence (LOA) from their degree program.

You will have the opportunity to:
  1. Implement the OMERS Capital Markets investment process focused on long-term investment results.
  2. Conduct comprehensive industry research and analysis, developing a deep understanding of secular trends as well as structural changes and their impact on the industry and the companies we invest in.
  3. Conduct forensic fundamental company analysis, develop financial models, and perform valuation analysis. Articulate drivers of intrinsic value of securities researched.
  4. Present and defend investment recommendations to the team.
  5. Monitor securities held in OMERS Capital Market portfolios.
  6. Participate in, contribute to, and encourage healthy and robust investment debate and challenge of investment ideas.
  7. Collaborate with OMERS investment teams and offices globally and help institutionalize knowledge.
  8. Foster relationships with corporate management teams and other market participants.

Qualifications and Competencies:
  1. Strong interest in investment research in the Asia Pacific region.
  2. Pursuing a university degree in economics, business, quantitative or computer science-related discipline.
  3. Excellent analytical skills with an ability to generate deep insights.
  4. Intellectual curiosity and deep comfort with robust debate and challenge.
  5. Ability to articulate clear, logical, and convincing arguments and explain complex ideas simply.
  6. Action-oriented, proactive with a high degree of initiative.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  8. Effective team player with a collaborative attitude.
  9. Impeccable integrity.
  10. Years 3-4 preferred, flexible to strong year 2 candidates.
