Instrument / Fire & Gas Commissioning Technician

Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Senior Technician / Field Engineer, perform a variety of commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of various instrumentation including but not limited to calibration of input sensors such as temperature, flow, level, and pressure transducers, analyzers, fire & gas devices, and other monitoring equipment.

Responsibilities

1. Communicate clearly and precisely and follow oral and written instructions.
2. Understand the need for and adherence to the Permit to Work and Lock Out Tag Out procedures and follow safe working practices.
3. Understand, interpret, and work from various forms of project documentation such as the MC/PC procedure, tagging procedure, punchlist procedure, As Built procedure, Vendor Manuals, etc.
4. Install, inspect, calibrate, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot control instrumentation, fire and gas, and other monitoring equipment from the field to the end device.
5. Pre-commissioning and commissioning remote I/O panels, including input and output loops, device functionality, the control network between field and control room including HMI's and C&E testing.
6. Pre-commissioning and commissioning motor control signals between MCC's and ICSS.
7. Verification of data transfer through serial link interfaces between packaged equipment and ICSS.
8. Understand, interpret, and work from various forms of project drawings such as P&ID's, BLD's, Wiring Diagrams, IO Lists, etc.
9. Complete all relevant project documentation including knowledge of CMS, Mechanical Completion, and Pre-commissioning checksheets.
10. Have a sound knowledge of the function and use of the various test equipment to perform the above tasks.
11. Have a sound understanding of certified equipment and hazardous areas.
12. Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow workers, and vendors.
13. Assist in providing training for less experienced personnel.
14. Maintain good timekeeping practices.

Requirements

1. Knowledge of the following: PTW / Lock Out / Tagout systems, HSE policies and completion management systems, Fire & Gas equipment, Process control, Integrated Control & Safety System (ICSS), Addressable Fire Detection System, Preparation and submission of MC and PC dossiers for handover to operations.
2. NITEC / Diploma in Instrumentation.
3. Minimum 5 years experience in commissioning, preferably for FPSO projects.
