Infrastructure Engineer

The Singtel Cloud Operations Team and Cloud Centre of Excellence operates AWS and Azure Cloud Services for Singtel Group IT. The team is responsible to build the controls to govern the use of the Cloud and the Infrastructure As Code (IaC) and automated infrastructure provisioning tools.

As a Senior Cloud Operations Engineer you will be responsible for building, operating, and refining Cloud services for Singtel Group IT including:

• Define/Refine tagging and billing strategies in the Cloud.
• Define/Refine the standard operating procedures and services used in the Cloud.
• Provide infrastructure automated provisioning tools to deploy infrastructure safely to AWS and Azure and continuously improve the provisioning pipelines.
• Use automation tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform to build service catalogues for development teams.
• Work on configuring and supporting all the automated tools across all stages of the development pipeline including Integration, Test, Staging and Production.
• Be responsible for creating, versioning and testing of scripts for backup, deployment, patching.
• Constantly upgrade skills and update knowledge along with the latest developments in the world of DevOps and DevSecOps.
• Provide Infrastructure Deployment Support to application teams.
• Be a subject matter expert in the Cloud and provide guidance to teams.
• You are empowered to own your technical projects and chart a course to see it to fruition, while adhering to Singtel's audit, governance, and review processes to ensure quality delivery for end users.
• Provide support either manual or automated to application teams upon request.
• Instruct teams on the use of consumables and configuration of application deployments.
• Understand the need of a Service Catalogue and how it’s built on multiple cloud providers.
• Build and extend the service catalogue.
• Perform Infrastructure Deployments / Automation and provide support for automation tools.
• Build and provision infrastructure deployment pipelines.
• Understanding your customer and recognizing their needs. Plan for success.
• Build and maintain automation tools.
• Build consumables and automation frameworks.

Skills for Success:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. IT, Computer Science or Software Engineering).
• At least 8 ~ 12 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of cloud environments with Amazon Web Services and how to configure and optimize, deploy and manage these services through CI/CD pipelines. Azure and GCP knowledge will be helpful.
• A clear understanding of computing principles such as networking, service operations and monitoring.
• The ability to code is essential. You are able to script in Bash/Zsh, Python, Powershell and Java.
• You must be at home with Linux and Windows operating systems including package management, scheduling, security, configuration, monitoring.
• You are able to use tools such as Git, Jenkins, Puppet, Chef/Ansible, Dynatrace, Nagios, Maven/Ant, Gradle. (Bamboo is a plus).
• Deep understanding of load balancing, containerization, NAT services, proxy services.
• You have experience with monitoring tools such as ELK (kibana), OpenView, Dynatrace, Newrelic or Datadog.
• Familiarity with Salt Stack, Docker/Build Kit/Buildah is a plus.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be proactive, resourceful and self-motivated with strong analytical skills.
• Experience in software and application development that requires analysis and design work.
• Knowledge/Experience with Gitlab/GitHub/Bitbucket/Stash.
• Knowledge/Experience with Continuous Integration and Automated Testing.
• Knowledge/Experience in Agile Development and Management tools, e.g. Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, SonarQube, Nexus, Artifactory, Jenkins, Selenium, etc.
• Must know CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Must understand Kubernetes, Istio, API Gateways (Kong/Apigee), and principles of service publication and traffic routing and metering.

Must understand security principles of firewalls and attack prevention techniques.
