We are seeking a talented and motivated scientist to join our Advanced Cell Culture Solutions team, which is part of the Creavis business incubation unit. The team focuses on identifying critical unmet needs in CGT in order to develop innovative solutions, new products and services. The successful candidate will work on exciting and challenging topics relating to production of viruses for vaccine and gene therapies for two years.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of project experiments pertaining to the culture of mammalian cells used in production of biopharmaceuticals such as HEK 293, CHO or SF9, or purification and analysis of viral vectors used in vaccines or gene therapies.
- Supporting innovation and co-development customer projects through research, diagnosis, failure analysis and hypothesis testing.
- Supervising and mentoring research assistants and interns.
- Documenting results and communicating findings in the form of reports and presentations.
- Undertaking lab tasks such as maintaining lab organization / tidiness, organizing inventory, procuring laboratory supplies, as well as updating standard operating protocols and risk assessments.
- Supporting the preparation of scientific publications, technical marketing material and presentations.
REQUIREMENTS
- Doctorate (PhD or DEng) in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Biology, or similar Life Science fields. Applicants should be within 3 years post-graduate degree.
- Experimental expertise in lab-scale cell culture relevant for virus production, and/or state-of-art downstream purification, processing and analytics of viral vectors.
- Experience in a laboratory environment and familiarity with safety practices, standard operating procedures and experimental protocols.
- Familiarity with bioprocesses (such as bioreactor culture) or chromatography, is preferred.
- Proficiency in data collection, data analysis and data visualization/presentation.
- Able to work independently and in a team.
- Be highly motivated in mastering new knowledge domains, techniques and approaches. Be enthusiastic in generating new ideas to advance project goals.
- Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
