Project Engineer - Mining Sector

Reporting to the Project Manager/Contracts Manager, the Project Engineer is responsible for the successful delivery of projects within the Mining sector. The role involves managing project scope, timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure that projects meet client and contractual requirements.

The Project Engineer will establish strong client relationships and maintain effective communication with senior stakeholders, as well as providing input into tenders, customer presentations, and supporting business development activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budget, and workpacks, ensuring alignment with client and contractual requirements.
  2. Monitor project budgets to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints, addressing any variances.
  3. Communicate regularly with senior management, clients, and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, risks, and performance.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are managed and project goals are met.
  5. Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proper risk management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Manage and allocate project resources effectively to ensure all tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  7. Lead project teams, providing direction, support, and motivation to ensure objectives are met.
  8. Ensure all deliverables meet high-quality standards and are completed in line with client and company expectations.
  9. Track project performance, using KPIs to monitor progress against the defined scope, schedule, and budget. Report progress to senior management and stakeholders.
  10. Manage changes to project scope, contracts, or deliverables, ensuring they are documented and agreed upon by all parties.
  11. Provide project-related support for tenders, customer presentations, and business development activities.
  12. Ensure all projects comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  13. Identify opportunities for improving processes, tools, and team efficiency based on project outcomes.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. A tertiary qualification in engineering, or a relevant discipline (i.e. Mechanical) is essential.
  2. Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining client relationships.
  3. Experience in industrial hydraulics, including components (pumps, valves, actuators, etc.), system design, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  4. Ability to manage multiple scopes simultaneously, navigating technical and operational challenges.
