Job description

The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety protocols and environment management systems within the organization. This role ensures compliance with government regulations and industry standards, aiming to create a safe and sustainable work environment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Management

  1. Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs.
  2. Conduct risk assessments and ensure that all employees are aware of the risks and safe practices in their work environment.
  3. Oversee incident investigations and ensure that corrective actions are implemented to prevent reoccurrences.
  4. Organize and conduct safety training sessions and drills.

Environmental Management

  1. Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
  3. Monitor and analyze environmental metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  4. Promote sustainability initiatives within the organization.

Regulatory Compliance

  1. Stay updated on HSE regulations and ensure the organization's compliance.
  2. Prepare and submit reports to regulatory bodies as required.
  3. Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of experience in an HSE role, preferably in a managerial capacity.
  3. Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  4. Registered WSHO & FSM.
  5. Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices.
  6. Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Skills

  1. Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  2. Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  3. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HSE management software.

Work Environment

The HSE Manager typically works in an office setting but is required to spend time on-site to conduct inspections and audits. This role may involve exposure to hazardous conditions and requires adherence to strict safety protocols.

Reporting

The HSE Manager reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) or another senior executive, depending on the organization's structure.
