Hotel Duty Engineer

Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Duty Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Hotel Engineering Team Associates, its facilities and guest rooms to ensure that a high standard of upkeep and maintenance is upheld at all times. He also oversees, supervises and ensures timely completion of any preventive maintenance, major replacement of equipment, alteration and improvement works of the building as directed by the Chief Engineer or its supervisor.

Responsibilities:

1. Plan and coordinate the execution of preventive maintenance and repair schedules of all machinery, equipment and facilities and see to the proper execution by engineering associates or external agencies or contractors.
2. Execution of administrative duties such as inventory management, record keeping of engineering work / repair, etc.
3. Ensure practice of good housekeeping standards of the engineering workshop and that all safety procedures and rules are adhered to.
4. Manage Engineering outsourced contractors and vendors to ensure that works are completed in accordance with Hotel and/or Regulatory standards and requirements.
5. Work with procurement to obtain quotations for all necessary works by external agencies / contractors and for all necessary purchases from suppliers with proper scope of work and requirements for approval by Chief Engineer. Provide functional expertise and advice to Hotel and regulatory authorities whenever required.
6. Monitor and track utilities consumption and suggest energy conservation initiatives and plans. Advise the Chief Engineer on any discrepancies and abnormalities in the energy consumption.
7. Prepare the duty roster of engineering associates to ensure effective deployment and use of resources.
8. Conduct daily briefings and duties assignment of engineering associates to carry out the necessary building operation and engineering works.
9. Assist in the preparation and submission of reports as required by Hotel and/or Regulatory requirements such as BESS, Water Efficiency Report, etc.
10. Assist in ensuring the timely renewal of term contracts one month before expiry. Prompt notification to outgoing contractors.
11. Assist in ensuring timely renewal of permits and/or licenses under the charge of Engineering.

Requirement:

1. Minimum 3 years in a similar capacity or supervisory role in the Engineering Department
2. Higher Nitec or Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services
3. Sound Knowledge of Hotel Maintenance and Management
4. Sound Knowledge of Mechanical/ Electrical/ Building Engineering
5. Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
6. A good team player
7. Able to work on rotating shifts including night shifts and on weekends & Public Holidays
