JOB SUMMARY

  • This role could be based in Singapore, Hong Kong, and UAE.
  • The Global and Singapore Head of Wealth Lending and Leverage Solutions is responsible for supporting the Wealth client proposition.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for design, development, and access for all Wealth Management (WM) lending and leveraged solutions for the relevant client segments viz. Private, Commercial, and Retail Banking.
  • The primary purpose of the role is to achieve WM’s financial budget on secured lending and to expand market share in this category for Wealth Management solutions.
  • The incumbent will be working closely with WM Product Heads in conjunction with the respective Country CMPS team, Wealth Solutions Team (WS), and Risk, to deliver Wealth lending and leveraged solutions to achieve enhanced returns and/or improved liquidity for the client.
  • The incumbent will focus on continuous development and building of the Wealth solutions (WS) secured lending platform and business to be at par or surpass the competition. This will include thinking beyond the restrictions of current offerings, distribution channels, and developing opportunities across segments.
  • Achieve ‘best in class’ position for WS secured lending products using existing licensing, distribution channels, and the Bank’s franchise.
  • Have strong risk governance oversight on all WS secured lending activities across segments and geographies. This will include developing policies and global standards in processes, documentation, and controls with a view to substantially scale up the business in an operationally robust environment.
  • Responsible for the timely completion of the various WS secured lending platform initiatives and projects.
  • Work with Group Technology to improve existing platforms and to ensure that business issues in the Book of Work are addressed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy

  • Build WM lending business to be at par or surpass the competition.
  • Drive client-centric culture through system innovation or/and process improvement and policy enhancement, to turn business requirements into innovative solutions.
  • Promote consistency, standardization, simplification, and improving delivery times.
  • Provide timely support to Country WM teams in the delivery of product capabilities by providing strategic advice to Country WM teams in the development of their product plans.
  • Assume thought leadership on all facets of WM Lending activities and work closely with relevant support functions and stakeholders.

Business

  • Deliver Global and Singapore WML Lending revenue and loan outstanding targets.
  • Identify business opportunities to increase penetration (ENR % AUM) of the existing on us AUM in both Private Banking and Retail Banking.

Processes

  • Continuously evaluate the adequacy of the process design for WM lending and strengthen them where necessary.

People & Talent

  • Support the training needs of Relationship Managers and clients by developing appropriate training materials.
  • Support diversity and influence employment, engagement, and retention of high-quality people.

Risk Management

  • Ensure a strong product governance and risk management framework.
  • Embed appropriate conduct culture in the WM lending including personal end-to-end accountability.
  • Enhance the Wealth Lending suitability framework, which includes protecting client interests by ensuring only suitable products are approved for distribution.
  • Ensure major risks are identified, logged on a timely basis, and remediation plans are in place for all identified risk gaps.

Governance

  • Maintain a strong governance oversight on all WM Lending activities across segments and geographies. This will include developing policies and global standards in processes, documentation, and controls with a view to substantially scale up the business in an operationally robust environment.
  • Review and maintain WM lending PPG.
  • Review CAs to WM Lending PPG and program proposals for new and existing products submitted by business units/countries for approval, ensuring all risk dynamics are properly addressed and managed.
  • Proactively refresh assurance and controls to address any identified gaps.
  • Regularly review audit reports and identify any key risk trends or issues related to WM lending portfolio.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of banking experience.
  • Prior experience of managing Compliance & Regulatory Relationships.
  • Product Knowledge – Structured Derivative Notes & Swaps.
