About The Food Bank Singapore

The Food Bank Singapore is a registered charity with Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status, dedicated to combating food insecurity and promoting food sustainability in Singapore. Our mission is to bridge the gap between food surplus and food need by redistributing excess food to those in need, while raising awareness about food waste and sustainability. Through innovative programmes, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, we strive to create a future where no one goes hungry and food resources are used responsibly.

Position Overview

The Head of Philanthropy & Partnerships plays a pivotal role in driving The Food Bank Singapore’s mission by leading efforts to secure financial support and build lasting relationships with donors. This role focuses on soliciting donors & ensuring the organisation meets its financial and sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, an excellent communicator, and be passionate about wanting to support vulnerable members of our community.

Key Responsibilities

1. Donor Relationship Management and Fundraising Strategy

  • Conduct market research to identify potential donors, philanthropic opportunities, and emerging trends in fundraising.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage, cultivate, and solicit donors, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s mission and values as well as to foster long-term relationships and sustained giving.
  • Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns to engage the donor community and increase support

2. Project Management

  • Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of fundraising campaigns and activities, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and vendor relationships for fundraising initiatives and events.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of fundraising activities, providing regular updates to senior leadership.

3. Fundraising Communication and Content Development

  • Develop and draft compelling pitches and grant applications to secure donor support.
  • Produce high-quality advancement communication materials, including fundraising brochures, thank you letters, stewardship reports, speeches, and scripts.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in all donor communications, maintaining the organisation’s brand and voice.

4. Digital and Social Media Fundraising (In conjunction with the Marketing team)

  • Plan and execute innovative fundraising campaigns leveraging digital technologies and social media platforms.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop engaging content for social media, newsletters, and other digital channels.

5. Donor Events and Engagement

  • Conceptualise, plan, and execute 3 fundraising activities per year that align with donor interests and organisational goals.
  • Prepare and deliver impactful presentations to communicate funding needs and demonstrate the impact of donor contributions.

6. Collaboration and Reporting

  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards for board and team, providing insights into fundraising performance and donor engagement.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 - 7 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, account management or strategic advancement, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Bachelor Degree and above.
  • Proven track record of securing significant donations and building long-term donor relationships.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and proposals.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget and vendor management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for food sustainability, social impact, and the mission of The Food Bank Singapore.
  • Willing to travel within country.
