Job description

The Head of Human Resources will be responsible for leading and managing the overall HR function for the organisation. This role requires a strategic HR leader who can develop and implement HR initiatives aligned with the mission and values of the non-profit, ensuring that the organisation attracts, develops, and retains a high-performing and motivated workforce. The Head of HR will oversee all aspects of HR including recruitment, employee relations, talent development, performance management, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the HR strategy aligned with the organisation’s goals and mission.
  • Advise senior leadership on HR policies, workforce planning, and organisational development.
  • Lead initiatives to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture that reflects the values of the non-profit sector.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, ensuring the organisation attracts diverse talent committed to its mission.
  • Implement effective onboarding, orientation, and retention strategies.
  • Develop workforce plans to ensure the organisation meets both its immediate and long-term human capital needs.

Performance Management & Development

  • Lead the creation of a performance management system focused on continuous feedback and employee growth, while overseeing talent management, succession planning, and leadership development.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Act as an advisor on HR issues, implement engagement strategies to improve morale and retention, and manage conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Design fair and competitive compensation and benefits programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and alignment with non-profit standards.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Ensure HR policies, systems, and operations comply with local laws, managing payroll, employee records, and promoting a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 7-10 years of experience in HR, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in a non-profit or mission-driven organisation is highly desirable.
  • A passion for the non-profit sector and commitment to the organisation’s mission.
