ORGANISATION PROFILE

Assumption Pathway School, an institution started in 2009, is a joint education initiative by the Ministry of Education, Institute of Technical Education and St Gabriel's Foundation to serve the needs of students unable to access mainstream secondary education.

BROAD FUNCTIONS

The Head of Department of Facility Services (HOD/FS) is responsible for managing, developing, and appraising his/her staff. He/She is also responsible for charting the direction of the department to achieve organisational goals in accordance with the vision and mission of the school.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key Personnel (KP) of the school Executive Committee (ExCo).
  • Lead and manage a team of teachers and management support officers.
  • Manage and mentor both training and support staff to develop their capacity and capability and carry out staff management performance appraisal to ensure the optimal utilisation of staff.
  • Plan scheme of work for the team.
  • Supervise the curriculum assessment processes (i.e., ITE Skills Certificate (ISC) and Workforce Skills Qualification (WSQ)).
  • Plan, manage, and implement training programmes, customised training, and other programmes to facilitate life-long learning.
  • Develop curriculum resources and review them periodically, curriculum delivery, tests and assessment, and the maintenance of skills standards.
  • Manage and develop students to maximise their talents and potentials and ensure the maintenance of discipline and well-being of students.
  • Liaise and collaborate with industry partners for the school’s industry attachment programme (i.e., Industry Experiential Programme) and progression pathway of students.
  • Teach, develop, and evaluate student competencies towards the attainment of ISC in Facility Services.
  • Develop students’ potential and thinking skills to the fullest; impart critical core skills that will help them succeed in the workplace and in life.
  • Serve as advisor and provide School Leaders (SLs) with professional advice on vocational/trade matters concerning the FS department.
  • Conduct periodic assessment and review of the FS department Action Plan to achieve departmental goals.
  • Develop, implement, and review a system to manage departmental financial resources (i.e., includes annual budget), administrative effectiveness and efficiency, key teaching-learning resources including materials, equipment and technology, key suppliers and stakeholders, and data and information.
  • Function as part of the school's management team in respect of decisions relating to the School's programmes and allocation of resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by SLs including covering their duties whenever necessary.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Possess a recognised Degree / Diploma in Facility Management / Engineering or equivalent.
  • Possess a minimum of 3 years working experience in a supervisory position in a vocational / secondary educational institution or equivalent.
  • Able to work with teenagers with diverse needs and family backgrounds.
  • Experience in teaching preferred.
  • Possess ACTA / ACLP / ACTEP qualification is an advantage.
  • Possess effective communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
  • Able to work in a school environment with at-risk students.
  • Excellent team player.
