Head of Credit Risk (Banking/ Financial Institution)

Responsibilities

• Review and assess credit proposals and renewals, especially those deviating from internal guidelines, to ensure sound credit decisions and effective risk mitigation measures are in place.

• Develop and refine the credit risk framework, ensuring it remains robust, up-to-date, and aligned with the broader risk appetite and regulatory requirements of the organization.

• Oversee credit stress testing activities, including the evaluation of test methodologies and assumptions, to assess the portfolio’s ability to withstand stressed conditions.

• Monitor credit exposures and emerging market trends, providing insights and alerts to key stakeholders to support timely risk responses.

• Work closely with front-line teams to enhance lending-related policies and practices, ensuring they reflect both commercial needs and prudent risk-taking.

• Support the implementation and evolution of the company’s risk tolerance approach by helping define escalation thresholds and aligning risk limits with strategic objectives.

• Assist in strengthening operational and technology risk oversight by evaluating key control processes and identifying areas for improvement through risk-based assessments.

• Contribute to readiness and resilience planning by participating in periodic reviews of critical business support measures and contingency strategies across departments.

Requirements:

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or equivalent.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in risk management, with a strong focus on credit risk and liquidity risk within a bank or financial institution.

• Proficient in risk assessment methodologies, stress testing, and regulatory compliance frameworks.

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders and drive risk initiatives effectively.

• Adaptable and hands-on approach, capable of working in a dynamic and evolving environment.
