Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Container Management to oversee the comprehensive management and optimization of the organisation’s container operations. This leadership role involves enhancing container utilization, managing space allocation, and overseeing the repositioning of empty containers. Leading a team of 3-4 professionals, you will collaborate across departments to ensure seamless operations and contribute to the strategic growth of our container services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Container Operations Leadership: Lead and manage all aspects of container operations, including leasing, maintenance, and repositioning, to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  2. Optimization Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to maximize container utilization, reduce operational costs, and improve overall efficiency.
  3. Space and Inventory Management: Oversee space allocation and inventory management to ensure optimal container availability and alignment with market demands.
  4. Empty Container Repositioning: Design and execute plans for the efficient repositioning of empty containers, minimizing costs and enhancing fleet utilization.
  5. Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of container management professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
  6. Vendor and Stakeholder Relations: Manage relationships with suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure service excellence and identify growth opportunities.
  7. Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of container management strategies and drive data-driven decisions.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all container operations comply with international shipping regulations and industry standards.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
  2. More than 10 years of experience in the container shipping industry, with a strong focus on container leasing, operations, and management.
  3. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and develop teams effectively.
  4. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and implement optimization strategies.
  5. Proficiency in container management systems and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with SAP is a plus.
  6. Fluency in Mandarin is a plus as the role involves handling the China Market.
