Job description
  • The Head of Audit, Asia and Middle East will be responsible for all internal audit activities across Asia and Middle East, including leading the assurance teams within the global team structures. The role holder will be a part of the BIA Management Team and BIA BBPLC Direct Reports team.
  • Lead effective and efficient assurance teams to achieve results in delivery, determining and delivering against agreed metrics including budget, delivery, and objectives. This includes leading audit teams to provide effective assurance with insightful audit results.
  • Represent BIA in Executive Committee and Management Forums as an independent member.
  • Develop an audit plan and execute against it for Asia and the Middle East.
  • Represent BIA in interactions with local Regulators including, but not limited to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, Royal Bank of India, and Bank of Israel.
  • Support the BBPLC CIA to produce concise and insightful commentary for reporting to the Board and Regulators.
  • Share industry knowledge including the key regulatory requirements and emerging developments.
  • Analyse trends, identify gaps and make links between the regulatory landscape, emerging trends, and risks.
  • Support delivery of BIA Strategy and its pillars.

Purpose of the role

To support the development of audits aligned to the bank’s standards and objectives by working collaboratively with colleagues, providing accurate information and recommendations, and complying with policies and procedures.

Accountabilities

  • Audit development and delivery support, including financial statements, accounting practices, operational processes, IT systems, and risk management.
  • Identification of operational risks to support the delivery of the Barclays Internal Audit (BIA) Audit Plan through risk assessments.
  • Assessment of internal control effectiveness and their capability to identify and mitigate risk aligned to regulatory requirements.
  • Communication of key findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including the Audit Owner, senior managers, and directors.
  • Identification of regulatory news and industry trends/developments to provide timely insight and recommendations for best practice.

  • Exercise management authority to make significant/complex business and strategic decisions that impact the Barclays Group, business division, or function.
  • Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally and foster growth for Barclays business.
  • State the business division/functional spokesperson or representative to external bodies and shape the public image of Barclays.
