Head of Artificial Intelligence

A Leading technology organisation is seeking an experienced Head of AI to join their team.

As the Head of AI, you will lead the strategy, development, and deployment of our AI-driven products and solutions. Act as a key role as leadership in shaping the AI roadmap, building a robust AI team, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration while navigating the challenges of an early-stage startup environment. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise, product management skills, and a venture mindset to drive innovations.

Your new role

As the Head of AI/ Department head, you will be responsible for:

• Define and lead the AI strategy in alignment with the company’s overall goals, focusing on innovation and excellence in AI technologies such as LLMs, NLP, and machine learning.
• Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of AI products, ensuring they meet scalability, efficiency, and performance standards. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and pivot as needed to seize new opportunities.
• Form a collaborative and innovative team environment that thrives on entrepreneurial spirit, while also being directly involved in day-to-day technical challenges and development with team.
• Drive cutting-edge research in AI technologies and methodologies. Stay ahead of industry trends and incorporate best practices into product development, with an eye for disruptive innovation and rapid prototyping.
• Navigate the complexities of an early-stage startup by identifying potential roadblocks early and developing creative, cost-effective solutions to ensure continuous progress.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to integrate AI capabilities into existing and new products. Cultivate a startup culture of collaboration, agility, and rapid iteration.
• Ensure the technical robustness, scalability, and efficiency of AI models and algorithms. Oversee the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and AI systems, with a focus on speed to market and customer feedback.
• Ensure all AI solutions are developed and deployed with a strong emphasis on ethical considerations, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.

What you need

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in AI/ML roles, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or management position.
• Strong leadership spirit with a passion for building products from scratch in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and take initiative in driving projects forward with problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Proven experience in leading the development and deployment of AI solutions, particularly in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and machine learning.
• Demonstrated success in managing cross-functional teams and delivering complex AI-driven products.
