Head, Finance: (5-Day Work Week) - Full Time Position
The Diocese of Singapore (DOS) has under her umbrella, 27 churches, community services, schools and chaplaincies. The Diocesan Central Administration (DCA) is the corporate headquarter for DOS.
Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Reporting
Responsible for financial reports/ management reports
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Responsible for statutory audit, i.e. schedules, audit report template, audit queries
Responsible for monthly financial reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
Responsible for annual submissions on Charity Portal
Budgeting and Cost Control
Manage and control the budgeting process and establish budgetary goals and objectives
Monitor and control expenses to ensure adherence to approved budgets
Conduct regular variance analysis and provide explanations for budget deviations
Financial Operations
Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payments & receipts, general ledger activities, and review bank reconciliation
Manage full sets of accounts including but not limited to monthly/ yearly closing
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data and resolve any discrepancies or issues
Verify monthly payroll records - prepared by HR
Oversee payments prepared by Admin Officer (Finance)
Liaise with external parties (e.g. banks and external auditors)
Organizing Finance Board meetings and Hon. Treasurers' meetings, including logistics for in-person or virtual meetings
Responsible for verifying and checking quota exemption applications submitted by churches under DCA
Oversight of Deanery accounts and audit
Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
Team Leadership and Development
Lead and supervise the finance team, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the finance department
Ad-hoc projects and other job duties which may be assigned from time to time
Requirements:
Degree in Accountancy or ACCA (or equivalent)
Minimum 5 years of working experience in a similar role and with supervisory experience
Member of Professional accounting body, e.g. member of ACCA and/or Chartered Accountant (CA) Singapore
Well versed in Financial Reporting Standards (FRS)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
Candidates with SAGE experience will be an advantage
Able to lead the team
