Group Tax Director (Shipping/Maritime)

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Group Tax Director to oversee the global tax function for a multinational organization. This role will focus on ensuring full compliance across jurisdictions, developing and executing tax strategies, and advising senior leadership on the tax impact of business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, cross-border experience, and a proactive approach to managing risk and value in the tax landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee global tax compliance and reporting, including corporate tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, and transfer pricing across multiple jurisdictions
  • Lead the development and implementation of tax strategies that align with the group’s global business objectives and operating model
  • Ensure full compliance with local and international tax laws, including OECD guidelines, BEPS regulations, and economic substance requirements
  • Own the preparation and review of transfer pricing documentation, master file and local files, and Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR)
  • Monitor changes in tax regulations across all operating regions and assess their impact on the group’s tax position
  • Review and advise on tax clauses in contracts, intercompany arrangements, and commercial transactions
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from local and international tax authorities, ensuring timely and accurate responses
  • Provide tax advisory support on M&A, restructuring, cross-border transactions, financing arrangements, and new market entries
  • Collaborate with external advisors and internal teams (Finance, Legal, Treasury) to ensure consistent tax treatment and governance
  • Develop and maintain robust tax risk management and internal control frameworks
  • Support the finance leadership team in group-level financial reporting and tax provisioning under IFRS or other applicable standards

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent, with a recognized professional qualification (CA, CPA, ACA, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 10–12 years of relevant experience in direct and indirect tax, with strong exposure to international tax and transfer pricing
  • Strong technical knowledge of Singapore tax, regional tax regimes, and global tax frameworks
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tax issues across jurisdictions, ideally in an MNC or Big 4 environment
  • Experience in supporting audits, structuring projects, and navigating cross-border transactions
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Familiarity with tax technology, ERP systems, and reporting tools is a plus
