A leading multinational organization is seeking an experienced and strategic Group General Counsel to lead its global legal function. This role focuses on M&A and Private Equity transactions in emerging markets, and the successful candidate will provide expert legal advice across multiple jurisdictions. With global coverage, the role reports directly to the C-suite and requires leadership of a high-performing legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the global legal team, providing guidance on legal strategy, corporate governance, and risk management.
Oversee and advise on M&A and Private Equity transactions, particularly in emerging markets, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
Develop and implement legal frameworks for complex cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, joint ventures, and divestitures.
Act as a strategic advisor to the C-suite on legal risks and business decisions, contributing to overall corporate strategy.
Ensure effective management of all legal aspects of corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and litigation.
Manage relationships with external legal advisors, ensuring the efficient use of resources and alignment with the company’s objectives.
Monitor legal developments in emerging markets and provide insights to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
Key Requirements:
Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), ideally 20+ years.
Extensive experience in M&A and Private Equity transactions, with a focus on emerging markets.
Strong leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing and developing legal teams in a global, multi-jurisdictional environment.
Demonstrated ability to work closely with senior executives and advise on strategic decisions.
Excellent knowledge of international corporate law, regulatory frameworks, and compliance requirements.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
