Job description

The Global Outsourced Operations Team is responsible for the coordination, manufacturing, planning, and delivery of Dyson products, refurbishment, spares, and accessories globally. This covers the engagement and interaction with product development teams through to the purchase of parts, products, relevant equipment, and tooling to ensure product quality, reliability, and output is achieved. The team is responsible for maintaining the quality standards of Dyson products daily.

About the role

The Head of Materials Management is responsible for end-to-end operations strategy and management of materials throughout the product lifecycle, responsible for the integration of materials management within production planning across finished goods, global spares, and global refurbishment operations.

You will develop and lead aggregation and segmentation, establishing process and management of roles and responsibilities with stakeholder management whilst building and leading end-to-end capability development of global material planners.

While optimising the flow of materials supplies and equipment from initial procurement to final disposition, you will fulfill material requirements for volume, cost, and business operations. Management of internal stakeholders and cross-functional leaders along with external contract manufacturers and suppliers will ensure sustainable supply and deliver lean operational efficiency with managed exposure and write-off.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure that operational commitments and goals for the business are met and to plan (cost, quality, delivery).
  2. Provide strategic focus and leadership to develop global materials management strategy to deliver growth targets with optimised risk management and managed exposure controls.
  3. Educate, engage, and challenge internal and external stakeholders on end-to-end materials management – creating the supply chain of the future for Dyson.
  4. Drive specific focus to areas of new technology to ensure that Dyson has the required level of knowledge, process, control, and governance across regional and global manufacturing locations.
  5. Lead the Global Materials Management team to ensure that best manufacturing practices are employed and to challenge the norm to find different and better solutions.
  6. Deliver strategies to ensure that we provide manufacturing solutions that are both flexible and cost-effective in meeting customer demands.
  7. Define and deploy best in class inventory management and reporting systems, enabling data-driven decision making and global supply network optimisation through integration and advanced analytics.

Team Responsibilities:

  1. To drive, develop, and implement strategies and business practices aligned with global leading best practice, driving consistency and accuracy throughout the global supply chain and contract manufacturing network.
  2. Develop and lead the materials management operations activities globally to execute day-to-day production and deliver on strategic project plans.
  3. Develop and lead the integration of materials management into planning and new product launch strategies for both sustaining and new products.

About you

Candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management / Materials Management, with at least 15 years of working experience, including 5 years at a Senior Manager level.

APIC training and experience are advantageous, with a background in FMCG.

Strong leadership with excellent analytical skills and a good team player.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Individual must be self-motivated and have the ability to lead and motivate others not in direct line of responsibility.

Excellent command of written and spoken English.
