The Opportunity

Join our team as General Manager – Growth & Marketing.

This is a new role created due to company growth. You will lead our Growth & Marketing function, reporting directly to the owner/founder.

Key aspects of this role are:

  • Autonomy: full autonomy for team including strategy, management & budget.

The Role

You will lead our Growth & Marketing function. Your mission will be to build and lead a world-class growth marketing team with global reach. This will be a highly targeted strategy to suit our global audience and premium engineered products. This is a high-growth environment with the budget required to deliver the plan.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead & manage team
  • Growth & marketing strategy
  • Demand gen (PPC, paid social, paid ads)
  • Lead gen (funnel design, content, email, remarketing, webinars, etc)
  • Sales deal enablement (process design, content, templates, etc)
  • Customer marketing (CRM-based, educate, nurture, grow share of wallet)
  • Brand & content strategy
  • Content creation & organic social
  • Website, design & product marketing
  • Marketing operations (incl. tech stack)
  • Performance analysis, budget management & ROI optimisation
  • Talent marketing & personal brand marketing for founder/owner
  • M&A marketing (incl marketing/sales integration of acquired companies)

A major transformation is required to take our business to the next level. Our brand positioning must transform from a local Australian supplier to a global brand that is the world leader in its niche market. Over 40% of our sales are international and this must increase to achieve our growth targets. We will grow both organically and by acquisition. We require a world-class growth marketing operation to support this global growth strategy.

The key initiatives will likely be something like this in the first 12-18 months:

  • Build an A-player team
  • Growth marketing strategy
  • Brand & content strategy (incl. new positioning & key messaging)
  • New website (to match new brand positioning)
  • New product marketing collateral
  • Build content creation engine (strong video focus)
  • Build & test lead gen funnels
  • Build & test demand gen advertising
  • Improve sales deal enablement (improve deal velocity & conversion)
  • Build customer marketing program (nurture & grow share of wallet)
  • Content localisation program (translation, local content origination, etc)
  • Replicate funnels for global reach (by region, language)
  • Upgrade marketing tech stack

About You

We are looking for a highly competitive growth marketing leader.

You will be competitive, focused, and driven by winning. You will have a high-performance mindset with a strong focus on driving revenue. You will be analytical and use logic and data to drive decision-making. You will be highly accountable, hit deadlines, and beat targets. You will be digital-first, with strong tech capability, and a high need for control (ie, build an A-player internal team, only use external agency where necessary). You will be ROI-focused, always looking to ‘test and measure’, try lots of things, and double-down on what works to maximise every dollar.

Product or industry experience are not required. Don’t let our engineered products scare you, we have in-house experts for all the technical stuff. We are looking for an A-player who knows how to build a high-performance growth marketing operation.

Experience required includes:

  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Previously setup or grown high-performance growth marketing team (not ‘first rodeo’)
  • Track record of delivering outstanding revenue growth & customer acquisition
  • Success building premium brands, ideally with global reach in niche markets

The Business

Beaver is a privately owned, entrepreneurial company led by Josh Beaver. Its main business specialises in the design and manufacture of mineral process technology for the mining industry. It currently has a team of 110 and is growing at a rate of 30-40 per year.

The business is investing heavily in technology to create a fully digital workflow from spatial data to design to manufacturing to remote monitoring. Its SlurryIQ technology is turning its products into ‘smart’ hardware using technology including 3D point cloud, AI-based design optimisation, wear prediction using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), embedded sensors with IIOT cloud, digital twin visualisation, and predictive maintenance. It is also investing heavily in manufacturing automation – think digital manufacturing and lots of robots.
