About this opportunity
As the General Manager – Business Development and Commercial, you will represent MMA Offshore and lead the Commercial and Business Development function. You will also deliver key performance targets for commercial and business acquisition while contributing to implement the company’s strategy.
This is a senior role in the Subsea Division, reporting directly to the Company’s Executive Leadership Team (specifically to the Executive General Manager – Subsea).
Some key responsibilities:
- Be accountable for developing the win strategy for our target opportunities and ensuring that key elements of the strategy are in place for the commercial team to take into the tender phase.
- Work closely with Operations (both Subsea and Vessels) to ensure that our proposals are achievable, and that the risks and opportunities of the projects are identified, acceptable and managed.
- Be accountable for converting tender proposals in to awards, in accordance with the budget expectations
- Ensure that appropriate risk identification and mitigation is considered at the tender stage of a project.
- Engage key support functions that are required to provide input to tender submissions, negotiations and award processes.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science, Commerce, Management, or another relevant field (or comparative industry experience).
- Master of Business Administration would be advantageous, but not strictly required.
Essential Experience
- Business development and acquisition experience
- Advanced commercial acumen.
- Advanced negotiation skills.
- Contract management experience.
- Extensive industry experience in at least 2 of subsea oil and gas, renewables, marine / civil infrastructure, and govt / defence.
- Proven project management and operational experience within a marine environment (desirable)
- Exposure/understanding of subsea survey, construction, inspection and maintenance operations.
What do we need from you?
- Ability to identify commercial opportunities and risks and have accurate reasoning to support business acquisition and delivery.
- Understand typical contractual regimes utilised in the industry (including charter parties, head contracts, subcontracting, liabilities, indemnities, insurances, etc).
- Exhibit analytical skills, with the ability to understand project budgets and perform commercial analysis.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to develop a business case and present it to C-suite level management
- Demonstrate resilience to the time demands in the commercial and tendering environment.
- Delegate responsibility and work with others while coaching them to develop their capabilities.
