Job description

This is a 3 month temporary position to cover the current GM's absence.

Responsibilities

The General Manager will be responsible for the development and recommendation of an annual business plan that will identify priority issues, desired outcomes, measures of success, and strategies to be followed that are consistent with the objectives of the Board and the strategic goals of the company. (15% Weightage)

  1. Ensure that the annual business plan is presented for consideration by the General Manager International Luge Operations, according to the specified format and within the set timeframe.
  2. Ensure that the annual business plan is implemented according to specified budget, time frame and policy.
  3. Review and evaluate the annual business plan, assessing present and future needs, trends, problems and profit opportunities.
  4. Meet regularly with the General Manager International Luge Operations, to review progress against achievement of business plan goals and objectives.

The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the financial targets of Skyline Luge Sentosa are achieved. (20% Weightage)

  1. Monitor financial results on a weekly basis to ensure budgeted targets are being met and costs controlled.
  2. Ensure operational initiatives are taken as necessary (and promptly) to accommodate fluctuations in business that may impact on profitability.
  3. Provision of the Skyline Luge Sentosa Management team with all financial reports, budgets and statistics and other information necessary for effective management and control of the property.

The General Manager will be responsible for the communication of accurate and timely information to the General Manager International Luge Operations. (5% Weightage)

  1. Submit regular reports, financial statements and budgets for consideration by the General Manager International Luge Operations.
  2. Provide commentary for the General Manager International Luge Operations on variations from budget and where appropriate previous financial results in relation to cost centre income yields and expenditure.
  3. Ensure that the General Manager International Luge Operations is provided regular monthly reports as required.
  4. Ensure information on trends, needs and utilisation of resources is gathered and presented to assist forward planning of service provision and alignment to strategic goals.

The General Manager will be responsible for the profitable marketing of the services and facilities of Skyline Luge Sentosa. (15% Weightage)

  1. Develop and implement tactical and strategic marketing activities.
  2. Develop initiatives for increased market penetration based on market research and present to the General Manager International Luge Operations.
  3. Ensure marketing, sales and promotion activities are carried out in a professional manner thereby building the company’s positive public image.
  4. Liaise and maintain contact with various user groups, potential user groups, associated tourism/recreation and business operations and accommodation facilities.

The General Manager will be responsible for managing and controlling the facilities, and activities of Skyline Luge Sentosa, including compliance with legislation, codes and regulations relevant to the operation. (25% Weightage)

  1. Ensure efficient and effective provision of facilities, products and services to customers ensuring optimal standards of service and user satisfaction.
  2. Liaise regularly with the General Manager International Luge Operations on quality issues.
  3. Implement quality research programmes to ensure accurate feedback is obtained on customer satisfaction levels.
  4. Ensure the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of complex facilities within operating budget.
  5. Ensure company workplace health and safety policy, procedures and processes are reviewed annually, targets set for improvements and hazard assessment is systematically managed.
  6. Actively promote, communicate and lead workplace health and safety and ensure management team personnel are proactive in such matters.
  7. Ensure the Crisis Management Plan is reviewed annually and all documentation, records and staff training required to efficiently and effectively implement the plan are maintained/carried out.
  8. Monitor the security of the complex and facilities by ensuring that only authorised personnel gain access to designated and restricted operational areas.
  9. Ensure the effective and efficient management of administrative, purchasing, repairs and maintenance and day-to-day operational systems.
  10. Ensure efficient planning and implementation of technological systems to maintain service and administrative processes to a competitive standard.

The General Manager will be responsible for the management of all permanent, part-time and contracted staff to ensure the highest standards of service and customer satisfaction. (15% Weightage)

  1. Establish and maintain a style of leadership that is credible, provides a clear sense of direction and purpose and generates motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to the company’s vision and objectives.
  2. Ensure those staff who exhibit potential and high-performance standards are rewarded and professionally developed to enable succession planning and maintain acceptable levels of retention.
  3. Develop and implement sound personnel initiatives that exhibit a consultative management style and build high levels of staff satisfaction.
  4. Ensure the company’s human resource policies and procedures are implemented and liaise regularly with the General Manager International Luge Operations on HR and service quality issues.
  5. Ensure that staff are dressed in company uniform and neat and clean attire at all times so as to present a professional image to customers.
  6. Liaise with outside contracting services as required.
  7. Maintain regular and visible presence on the premises during operational hours (e.g., evenings/weekends).

The General Manager will be responsible for managing the permitting, consenting and installation of new activities within Sentosa should they arise. (5% Weightage)

  1. Liaise with all relevant parties (e.g., SDC, BCA, SCDF, etc.) responsible for permitting and consenting in order to establish a new activity in Singapore.
  2. Liaise with consultants and contractors for the installation of the new activity.
  3. Work with Senior Management to ensure the business is operationally prepared to open once the construction and permitting requirements have been completed.
