Fire Alarm System Project Engineer

Job Summary:

The Fire Alarm System Project Engineer will take overall responsibility for the technical, commercial, and contract management aspects of assigned fire alarm system projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, this role ensures that all project objectives and metrics are achieved as planned, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The engineer will provide technical expertise, oversee installations, and ensure seamless project execution from design to commissioning.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and programming support for Fire Alarm Systems, ensuring proper design, functionality, and integration.
• Site Supervision: Supervise the installation of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
• System Design & Programming: Design, program, and provide technical support for fire alarm systems. Review and amend drawings in coordination with the project team to prepare for installations.
• Documentation & Design Submission: Prepare and review fire alarm system drawings for submission to consultants. Ensure designs comply with client requirements and industry standards.
• Cause and Effect Matrix: Develop the input/output cause and effect matrix based on client requirements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
• Collaboration: Liaise with the Project Manager and Engineers to coordinate drawing amendments, design modifications, and ensure timely installation preparations.
• Quality & Safety Compliance: Embed quality management programs and EH&S (Environmental Health and Safety) into all work processes to ensure safety, quality, and compliance during installation and commissioning phases.
• Stakeholder Discussions: Attend site discussions with consultants, main contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution and alignment with client expectations.

Qualifications & Competencies:

• Experience: 1 - 2 years of experience in Fire Alarm System Programming, testing, and commissioning, preferably within a Windows-based environment and addressable fire alarm system network topology.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with fire alarm system design and programming. Familiarity with AutoCAD (preferably Release 2005) will be an added advantage.
• Time Management: Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Communication & Collaboration: Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors.
