Financial Controller (Japanese MNC / APAC, Taxation, Treasury, AWS + VB)

Job Responsibilities:

1. The Regional Finance Manager will be primarily responsible to oversee and manage the full spectrum of finance, accounting, tax and planning activities.
2. Provide progressive and coordinated Finance and Accounting support to subsidiaries in the Asia region.
3. Develop and implement strategic Finance and Accounting initiatives and transformation projects as a regional finance HQ function, to achieve Group and business objectives.
4. Be a business partner to subsidiary business leaders and finance and accounting members, engaging in every aspect of the business organization to offer insights beyond just Finance and Accounting.
5. Examine, develop and implement strategic Finance and Accounting initiatives in accordance with the finance group mid-term plan and transformation projects as a regional finance HQ function.
6. Establish clear and consistent Finance and Accounting policies and practices to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the finance organization, including internal controls in compliance with corporate objectives and government standards.
7. Work closely with the Finance and Accounting Division to ensure finance programs and policies support business needs.
8. Manage finance projects such as acquisitions, spin-outs, redeployments, mergers, and joint ventures.
9. Spearhead controllership in operational activities and risks related to finance and accounting, treasury, and order management for smooth operations demonstrating high standards of accuracy.
10. Review and evaluate financial statements, reports, and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with corporate policy and statutory regulations. Analyze, simulate, and recommend preventive countermeasures to safeguard financial position.
11. Lead and review forecasting, budgetary planning, and reporting.
12. Manage the year-end audit process, impairment assessment, and attend to audit queries for timely sign-off of audited accounts.
13. Develop and implement optimized tax strategies, provide insight on tax implications and risks in supporting business initiatives, and ensure accurate and timely tax filings (corporate tax, GST, withholding tax, transfer pricing documentation, etc.).
14. Oversee treasury activities such as cash funds, foreign exchange, debt, and capital management, considering optimized options and funding sources for cost-effectiveness. Actively safeguard the company financially and perform risk management by analyzing transactional activities.
15. Recommend financial advice or analysis when making investments, which may include designing investment frameworks, industry analysis, financial modeling, and due diligence.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting or a related field in Finance. CA is preferred.
2. Minimum 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, including tax, with sound strategic planning and management experience.
3. Minimum 5 years of experience in APAC with multinational organizations, particularly Japanese MNCs.
4. Good knowledge of financial and accounting tax regulatory compliance in Singapore.
5. Experience in acquisitions, spin-outs, and mergers.
6. Able to start work within a short notice period or immediately is a plus.
7. Prior experience in the Manufacturing or Machinery Industry will be an added advantage.
