OVERVIEW
We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our team. You will be responsible for financial management, accounting, budgeting, audits, and governance matters, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices related to our IPC charity status. This is a key leadership role that supports strategic decision-making and financial sustainability.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
Lead a small finance team to maintain accurate and timely financial records across all accounting systems and subsystems.
Oversee end-to-end accounting processes including Accounts Payable/Receivable, General Ledger, Asset Management, Grants & Donations, and both Unrestricted and Restricted Funds.
Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards (FRS, CAS) and statutory requirements.
Manage month-end and quarter-end closings, GST filings, and the preparation of financial statements and performance reports for the CEO and Board.
2. Management Accounting & Budgeting
Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the CEO and department heads.
Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to guide resource planning and organizational decisions.
3. Audit & Governance
Coordinate and manage statutory and internal audits, ensuring timely completion and audit readiness.
Uphold compliance with financial governance standards and internal controls in line with charity sector regulations.
4. Financial Risk & Policy Management
Identify and assess financial risks, proposing risk mitigation and management strategies.
Review and ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as liaison with external auditors, regulators, consultants, and statutory bodies on finance-related matters.
Work with the Finance Committee and Board to support financial oversight and governance.
Partner with internal departments to strengthen financial processes and support program effectiveness.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Finance, Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in full set accounting and financial reporting.
Proven track record in leading finance teams and implementing robust financial systems.
Strong working knowledge of FRS, CAS, and GST regulations.
Hands-on experience with accounting software; knowledge of Xero is preferred.
Prior experience in the social service or non-profit sector is an advantage.
