Job description: (Field) Service Engineer
Purpose of the job
Responsible for the technical realization of projects, during the disassembly, assembly, inspection and repair, installation and commissioning of equipment, installations and related components.
Characterization
- Performs assignments/projects on the basis of requests from the project manager and project planning.
- Technical lead of the project team consisting of mechanics, (field) service engineers and subcontracted staff.
- Is responsible for maintaining the overview and ensures that the project is executed safely, in a structured manner, with a high quality standard and within planning and budget.
- Projects are performed at client sites (worldwide) or in the workshop. Often under time pressure and in unexpected or hectic circumstances.
- Flexibility: reachable and deployable, also on irregular hours.
- Realizes the most optimal technical solution and report on progress and the (technical) end result to the customer.
- Fulfills a leading role in respect of compliance with safety and environmental instructions, guidelines and policies of Stork and the client.
- Is highly specialized in installation & equipment technology and product knowledge.

Tasks/Responsibilities
1. Authorizations
- Independently performing inspections, measurements, repairs, disassembly and assembly of installations, equipment and related components.
- Authorized to operate specialist machines and tools.
- Competent to specialist work based on required training.
2. Execution
- (dis)Assembly, inspection and repair of installations, equipment, related components and connected installations onsite, according to work instructions. Sets priorities on location and specific approach to the work; on site troubleshooting.
- Searches for the technical optimal solution with regard to costs and downtime.
- Responsible for the overview of the progress of the project on-site, ensuring that the project is carried out safely, in a structured manner, with a high quality standard and within planning and budget.
- Communicating the status and progress of the project to the project manager, adequately reporting possible scope changes.
- Self-starting and able to fully prepare, execute and complete the work independently both technically and administratively.
- Can deal very well with tight deadlines and can very well structure work in hectic and/or unexpected circumstances.
- Makes adequate protocols (if necessary) and technical reports.
- Works closely with other relevant departments so that the project can be delivered to the customer in accordance with the scope.
- Monitor and manage technical intellectual property if appropriate.
- Technical assistance and advice to internal and external stakeholders on use, maintenance, repairs, risks and possibly renewal of the installation.
3. Leading the team
- Managing the project team (on-site), ensuring that the project is carried out safely, in the agreed manner, with high quality and within the agreed timeframe.
- Detection of deviations, intervening if a deviation is detected.
- Coaching, supporting and guiding the project team on-site.
- Responsible for timely and adequate internal and external reporting and administration.
- Making and/or supervising correct use of: tools, machines, measuring instruments and other means of production.
- Maintaining equipment in good condition under applicable norms and regulations, timely reporting and/or solving in case of imperfections and malfunctions.
- Proactive in personal development and knowledge sharing within the team and organization.
4. Safety, quality and environment
- Is accountable for safety and quality aspects within the project.
- Meeting and monitoring the correct safety measures for a safe working environment.
- Report safety incidents and / or near misses in accordance with applicable procedure.
5. Others
- Responsible for maintaining contact with the client at an operational level.
- Actively participate in realization of additional work during development and execution of projects, technically assisting the sales department.
- Proactive relationship management; as ambassador encourage clients to purchase more services and / or products.
- Keeps knowledge up to date within his area of expertise (i.e. through keeping track of technological developments and/or professional literature).
- Assists in development of and test new methods, techniques and new services.
Knowledge and Skills
