With our expansion plans in Southeast Asia, we are constantly seeking enthusiastic candidates to join us for the position of Principal in our Invictus International Schools located in this region.

Roles and Responsibilities

Management functions:

  • To be the Head and a contributing member of the school’s management team.
  • To provide leadership in managing the day-to-day operation of the School.
  • To lead the entire school in growing the school enrolment steadily to fill the school capacity.
  • To liaise with Invictus’ Academic and Examinations Board (where applicable) regarding teaching & learning activities at the School – these are to be in line with the curriculum and ethos of Invictus.
  • Staffing at the School – so that the standards and methods of teaching are in line with those determined by the Academic and Examinations Board.
  • To work with the Senior Vice President regarding:

- The school’s budgetary process and the implementation of the approved budgets.

- The school’s administrative processes as captured in Invictus’ Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), which include matters relating to admissions, contracting of students, maintaining student records, etc.

- To take all reasonable steps to ensure compliance with relevant statutory regulations as well as Invictus standing operating procedures (SOPs).

1. Strategic Planning

  • Planning, implementation, monitoring & data-driven evaluation of educational initiatives & school directions.
  • Lead the continued development of the school, holding true to the vision and values and helping students and staff realize their potentials.

2. Leadership – School Development

  • Leading implementation, monitoring & data-driven evaluation of all educational programmes based on research-informed practices & supported with required resources.
  • Develop the education aims and objectives of the school and devise strategies to achieve them.
  • Develop and coordinate the school plan and policies for approval by the Academic Board, Examination Board (where applicable) and Board of Management.
  • Nurture the school staff and guide them in achieving the aims, objectives and plans of the school.

3. Teaching & Learning

  • Develop a school environment which is supportive of learning and high achievement among the students.
  • Develop and provide appropriate learning and curriculum programmes and methods of instruction that meet the needs of all students in the school and timetabling to support them.
  • Promote effective teaching and learning practices across the school.
  • Develop school curriculum and assessment policies.
  • Implement systems for recording individual pupils’ progress and ensure that parents are informed regularly of the progress of their children at the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning across the school and develop improvement plans.

4. Management – People & Teams

  • Recruit high-quality teachers & staff in a collaborative, empowering & safe-fail working environment that promotes continuous professional learning through mentoring & regular feedback on professional practices.
  • Develop a good working relationship with fellow colleagues, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Treat all staff with respect and develop positive relationships.
  • Foster a harmonious working environment.

5. Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Lead implementation, monitoring & data-driven evaluation of stakeholder & community engagement that leverage technologies & social media with systematic and regular communication.
  • Foster strong partnerships with parents/guardians; communicate clearly, bearing the child and organization in mind.
  • Maintain effective communication systems with pupils, staff, parents and colleagues.
  • Implement all school policies with an understanding of their rationale.

6. School Management & Operations

  • Lead implementation, monitoring & data-driven evaluation of policies, systems and processes that emphasize clear roles & responsibilities, corporate governance in HR & finance, responsive marketing, seamless admissions, and the use of technologies in learning & administration.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the school, including the planning and overseeing of the daily timetabling of classes.
  • Nurture a collaborative, safe-fail learning environment & culture that promotes strong teacher-student relationships, lifelong learning skills & entrepreneurial mindsets.
  • Conduct the ordinary activities of correspondence, making reports and returns of information as required by the Board of Management.
  • Administer and set up any external examinations as required.

7. Self-Awareness and Self-Management

  • Set a good standard of professional interactions and ensure professional relationship boundaries are in place.
  • Be aware of his/her skill set and be willing to seek help and advice when required.
  • Always uphold professional integrity, e.g. discretion, confidentiality, loyalty and trust.

Requirements

  • Minimally 8-10 years of leadership experience in a similar or related environment.
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Education/Teaching or equivalent, with post-grad training in education.
  • Recognised training or experience in School Leadership.
  • Higher degree or recognized professional qualification (preferred). Evidence of continued relevant professional development.
  • PGDE and/or PGCE is preferable.
  • Preferably a Teacher’s License (NIE certification).

  • Demonstrate an acute and deep understanding of a primary and secondary school curriculum.
  • Possess the following skills:
  1. Teaching or pedagogical skills.
  2. Strong leadership skills and strategic planning – able to plan, implement and drive educational initiatives & school direction.
  3. Administrative and organizational skills.
  4. Interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Analytical skills.
  6. Computer literacy in MS Office.
  • Keep good composure and disposition.
  • Have passion for developing young learners.
  • Uphold high level of professionalism within circle of influence.
  • Display strong team spirit; achieve synergy with the team.
