Overview
Reporting to the Head of Division, Sports Medicine & Surgery, you will provide specific services such as exercise prescriptions, gait and motion analyses, correction of running gait and sports technique and interpretation and clinical application of Cardiopulmonary tests to patients. You will also be responsible for Sports Registry. You will play an essential role in Division of Sports Medicine & Surgery and meet the patients’ needs beyond the rehabilitation of sports injuries.
Job Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the following:
•Oversee the strength and conditioning phase of post–surgical patients. (e.g. rotator cuff/labral repair, knee meniscus repair/ACL reconstruction)
•Conduct and interpret isokinetic strength tests on pre and post-surgical patients
•Conduct and interpret video running gait analyses, correcting abnormal biomechanics where clinically relevant.
•Conduct and interpret maximal cardiopulmonary exercise testing (e.g. VO2max, lactate threshold) and prescribe appropriate training intensities for the recreational or elite athlete.
•Conduct and interpret submaximal exercise testing in patients with chronic disease and prescribing exercise within safe limits based on the patients’ chronic disease profile.
•Be a resource person to NUHS clinicians in research requiring sports science expertise (e.g exercise physiology, sports biomechanics, strength and conditioning)
Requirements
• An undergraduate degree (post-graduate qualifications are ideal) in Sports Science, with clinical knowledge in strength and conditioning, sports biomechanics, exercise physiology
•At least 2-3 years of working experience in healthcare environment
•Experience in high-performance sport or sport science support provision
•A good team player and possess good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
