THIS IS A 2-YEARS RENEWABLE / CONVERTIBLE CONTRACT ROLE

JOB DESCRIPTION

As an Executive of the Volunteer Management Team of Defence Collective Singapore (DCS), you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about National Education and Singapore’s defence story and culture of the five eventual entities within DCS (namely Singapore Discovery Centre, National Service-Themed Gallery, Singapore Airforce, Army and Navy Museums).

You will be responsible for managing the volunteer network for all museums under the Defence Collective Singapore. This includes all liaison work involving recruitment, training, deployment and related administrative work. You will also look into ways to expand the volunteer network by working with strategic partners and marketing volunteering opportunities through various channels.

Additionally, you will conceptualise and implement a variety of new and innovative volunteer programmes at Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC) and the various Museums. You will also be responsible for reviewing and refreshing existing volunteer programmes.

Responsibilities:

Manage the Volunteer Network under the Defence Collective Singapore

  • Liaise with volunteers under the Defence Collective Singapore on all volunteer matters such as recruitment, training, deployment, and volunteer benefits;

  • Conduct recruitment interviews and onboard process for selected volunteers;

  • Coordinate and facilitate training sessions, briefings, and enrichment programmes for volunteers.

  • Support the planning and implementation of events and programmes involving volunteer participation.

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders in creating and implementing new volunteering opportunities; and

  • Expand the volunteer network through strategic partnerships and the management of various recruitment channels and volunteering platforms.

  • Organise volunteers’ get together session, learning journey sessions and appreciation events.

  • Data collection, organisation and management.

Conceptualise, Develop and Implement Innovative and Quality Volunteer Programmes and Activities

  • Develop and implement new volunteer programmes on a regular basis to encourage new and repeat volunteering at the SDC and the various Museums.

  • This includes conducting basic research, scripting, procuring and creating all tours and programmes materials, training of volunteers, conducting the volunteer-led tours and evaluating them for review;

  • Review existing and new volunteer programmes regularly to ensure that tour content remains up-to-date and the take-up rates remain at a healthy level.

  • Bring to life the Singapore Story through various activities delivery methods such as role-playing, storytelling, facilitation of games and the application of other guiding techniques to enhance the volunteer-led tours and activities;

Requirements:

  • Passionate about the Singapore Story and committed to sharing it to instil confidence in and the desire to contribute to Singapore’s future and her defence;

  • Able to communicate, present and write fluently in English. Fluency in a second language will be advantageous;

  • Possess an impressive conceptual outlook and the ability to produce original ideas;

  • Enjoy interacting with people of all ages and inspiring them to volunteer for a good cause;

  • Organised. Able to multi-task, prioritise, and manage time effectively within tight project timelines;

  • Able to work well in a team;

  • Experience in facilitating training or public speaking is a strong advantage.

  • Possess at least a related degree and/or exposures to volunteer management work; and

  • Must be comfortable to work on weekends when required.
