[Contract Position]
The incumbent will assist in undertaking research studies, collecting data, preparing presentations, and supporting the delivery of research programmes that contribute to strategic planning and evaluation. The candidate is also expected to support the team in qualitative research, data mining and analytics for programme impact assessment purposes.
The individual will be expected to work collaboratively with respective key internal and external stakeholders. The candidate needs to have knowledge of mixed method research and analysis (both qualitative and quantitative), with a social science background and will play a significant role in the Research Team’s data collection, research and analysis, communication and report updates, and the foundational work to establish other new programmes.
Responsibilities:
- Core responsibilities
- Literature review: Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support ongoing research projects and to inform programme development and outreach efforts.
- Data Collection and analysis: Conduct primary and secondary data collection, including surveys, interviews and focus groups, to support research projects. Data analysis, including identifying trends and insights for management reporting.
- Research Reports and presentation: Prepare research reports, presentations, and papers, providing actionable recommendations for internal and external stakeholders. Assist in communicating such research findings and trends to Management and other stakeholders.
- Landscape scan: Conduct environmental scanning and prepare updates on the organisation’s key strategic thrusts.
- Impact assessment and programme evaluations: Assist in reviewing and implementing suitable impact evaluation frameworks and program evaluation processes.
- Additional responsibilities
- Project Support: Collaborate with team members to design research methodologies, develop research instruments, and ensure that all research activities adhere to ethical standards.
- Database Management: Maintain and organise research databases, ensuring data accuracy, security, and accessibility for ongoing and future research projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders involved in research projects, including scheduling interviews, meetings, and focus groups.
- Administrative Support:
- Provide administrative support for the research team, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, and managing project timelines.
- Perform any other duties as directed and assigned.
Requirements:
- Degree in Social Sciences (Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences / Statistics/ Sociology)
- Minimum 2 - 3 years of relevant professional experience in Research, Design-Thinking and Impact Evaluation or the social service sector is preferred
- Data literacy, a strong grasp of descriptive and inferential data concepts, familiarity with at least one statistical software program, such as SPSS or Tableau & data manipulation in spreadsheet software, such as Excel or power BI
- Knowledge of Python/R will be an added advantage
- Strong interest in community issues and a good knowledge of trends in the social service sector and issues affecting the community
- Have strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to write in a clear and engaging manner
- Able to excel in a fast-paced and dynamic organisational setting.
- Excellent organisation and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Meticulous, detail-oriented, responsible and able to work independently and with teams. You are enthusiastic about continuous learning and personal development.
- Good written and oral communication skills and ability to multi-task
- Able to participate in SINDA-wide events, as required.
This is a contract position, convertible to a permanent role subject to the performance and divisional requirements.
