About the Job

The Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and tackling the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads.

On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. You take pride in promoting trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The Messaging Spam and Abuse team works on preventing abuse within the messaging ecosystem, keeping users safe from phishing, malware, scams, and other unwanted interactions in messaging products. In this role, you will partner with product teams to identify potential abuse vectors ahead of new launches and establish, evaluate, and maintain abuse protections.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and solve problems using data and statistical methods.
  • Improve tools and automated systems through data analysis and technical knowledge, presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Develop an understanding of abuse in messaging, current cross-product workflows, and available intelligence.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and build anti-abuse protections, advise on counter-abuse strategies, and build monitoring and alerting dashboards to track abuse levels, perform quality checks to measure system/model reliability, and resolve false positives.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product managers, and program manager groups to develop requirements documents based on data analysis and granular product knowledge.
