Job description

Job Description

  1. Assist the Fleet vessels with day-to-day maintenance management of electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic or electro-pneumatic/automation systems.
  2. Review the fleet planned maintenance schedule of electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic or electro-pneumatic/automation systems, power generation, backup power source, and fire detection system, and submit it to the technical manager.
  3. Assist to guide onboard engineers on tasks that require electrical engineers’ competencies so that they can operate and maintain electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic/electro-pneumatic/automation systems efficiently.
  4. Willingness to attend & assist fleet vessels in managing electrical/electronic/electro-hydraulic/electro-pneumatic/automation equipment failures and carry out fault diagnosis to resolve issues.
  5. Advise the Technical Superintendent on the need for shore assistance or the procurement of spares in case of equipment failures that cannot be resolved through onboard attendance.
  6. Carry out onboard attendance in liaison with the Technical Superintendents.
  7. Provide a weekly work done report and submit it to the technical manager on the fleet vessels attended.
  8. Identify areas for improvements and modifications on electro/automation systems and make methodical recommendations for the efficient operation of the vessel.
  9. Contribute to improved learning and efficient experience transfer by working across the fleets.
  10. Advise the Technical Superintendent on matters related to defects input & electrical repair specifications for dry docking planning.
  11. Assist in providing input to the Technical Superintendent for incident investigations on electrical matters.
  12. Actively participate and engage in the process for the continuous improvement of departmental procedures.

Requirement

  1. Experience working onboard sea-going vessels as ETO (Electrical-Technical Officers) in compliance with STCW Standard of competencies for a minimum period of 2 years.
  2. Added advantage with a strong background in oil, gas, or chemical tankers or offshore support vessels.
  3. Added advantage with a good academic qualification in tertiary education in Electrical, Electronic, or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  4. Possess good knowledge of electrical power distribution, maintenance, and practical hands-on skills.
  5. Proficient in troubleshooting & fault diagnosis skills related to electrical, instrumentation, automation & control, including air conditioning and ventilation systems.
  6. Familiar with the regulatory and legislative shipping industry environment.
  7. A team player who collaborates well with the office technical team as well as the shipboard team.
  8. Able to communicate well, with fluency in English in both written and spoken forms.
  9. Minimum ability to use Outlook for email communication, MS Word for report writing, and basic use of Excel spreadsheets.
