Position: Electrical Project Engineer
Location: Singapore

Reports To: Project Manager

Job Summary:

The Electrical Project Engineer will play a crucial role in the planning, design, and execution of electrical and ELV systems for industrial/commercial construction projects in Singapore. This includes overseeing the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring they meet both safety standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience working on construction projects, collaborating with contractors, architects, and other engineers to deliver high-quality electrical solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Electrical Design and Planning:
    • Develop detailed electrical design plans for the construction project, including power distribution, lighting systems, electrical control systems, and ELV systems.
    • Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other specialists to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into the overall building design.
    • Conduct site surveys and coordinate with other teams to collect necessary data for design.
  2. Project Management:
    • Assist in creating and maintaining the project schedule for electrical works, ensuring key milestones are met and deadlines adhered to.
    • Support the Project Manager in managing project budgets, estimating electrical materials, labor, and other resources required. To perform material take-off to prepare BQ (Bill of Quantities).
    • Ensure that all electrical installations are carried out as per approved designs, on time, and within the allocated budget.
    • Coordinate procurement of electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications and timelines.
  3. Installation, Testing, and Commissioning:
    • Supervise and coordinate the electrical installation, ensuring all work is performed in accordance with drawings and specifications.
    • Oversee the testing and commissioning of electrical systems to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
    • Provide on-site troubleshooting and problem-solving during installation and testing phases.
  4. Quality Control and Compliance:
    • Ensure all electrical installations are compliant with local regulations, such as the Singapore Standards (SS), Singapore Electrical Code, and relevant building codes.
    • Conduct inspections during and after installation to verify that electrical systems meet quality standards.
    • Prepare required documentation for compliance checks, including test reports and as-built drawings.
  5. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management:
    • Ensure that all electrical work complies with safety regulations and the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies.
    • Conduct site safety inspections, ensuring that electrical installations are carried out safely and risk assessments are performed.
  6. Team Coordination and Supervision:
    • Support Site Supervisor to supervise electrical teams, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in electrical installations and tasks on-site.
    • Support Project Manager in meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to track project progress and address any issues.
  7. Client and Stakeholder Liaison:
    • Maintain regular communication with clients, contractors, and consultants to update them on the progress of electrical works and address any concerns.
    • Provide technical support and recommendations to clients regarding electrical design, system efficiency, and maintenance requirements.
    • Manage any client requests for changes or modifications to electrical systems during the project lifecycle.
  8. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Ensure that all project documentation is accurately maintained, including electrical schematics, reports, and inspection logs.
    • Provide regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting any challenges, delays, or variations in scope.

Key Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering within the Singapore construction industry.
    • Experience in managing electrical systems for large-scale construction projects, such as commercial or industrial developments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in electrical design software such as AutoCAD. Proficiency in Revit is a bonus.
    • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and ELV (emergency voice communication, CCTV, Card Access) systems.
    • Familiarity with relevant Singaporean electrical standards and building codes (e.g., SS 638, SS 546, SS531 etc.).
  • Project Management:
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a keen eye for detail and quality control.
    • Understanding of project schedules, cost management, and resource planning.
    • Experience in coordinating subcontractors and vendors.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with industrial / commercial construction projects in Singapore.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) for integrated design and collaboration.

Compensation:

  • Salary: $3000 - $4500. Based on experience.
