Job description

We are seeking a Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Engineer to join our client, a leading player in the petrochemical industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliable and safe operation of electrical systems and instrumentation equipment. This role involves the design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of E&I systems to support plant operations and enhance productivity.


Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement detailed plans for daily, ad-hoc, and shutdown maintenance activities, ensuring safe and efficient execution within established schedules and budgets.
  2. Lead, coach, and mentor subordinates to enhance their skills and performance.
  3. Review and evaluate maintenance planning documents, such as Long-Term Maintenance Plans and Critical Equipment Lists, to ensure alignment with operational goals.
  4. Create, update, and refine maintenance procedures and work instructions to optimize efficiency and safety.
  5. Collaborate with senior stakeholders to analyze data from predictive and preventive maintenance of critical plant equipment, recommend improvements, and maintain accurate documentation.
  6. Support the planning, coordination, and execution of Shutdown Maintenance (SDM) activities, including statutory equipment inspections.
  7. Provide timely and effective technical support to production, technical, and coordination teams, as well as external vendors, to resolve operational challenges.
  8. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex technical issues, engaging relevant stakeholders to identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  9. Propose and drive improvement initiatives and projects, presenting ideas to management and overseeing their successful implementation.
  10. Execute engineering and minor modification projects, with a focus on electrical and instrumentation systems, to enhance plant performance.
  11. Deliver technical training sessions and toolbox briefings for internal teams and contractors to build technical competency.
  12. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities and support continuous improvement projects.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering (or equivalent).
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) engineering, preferably in the petrochemical, oil & gas, or chemical industries.
  3. Expertise in Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA systems, and process instrumentation.
  4. Proficiency in interpreting P&IDs, loop diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  5. Strong technical knowledge of electrical equipment and process instruments, including AC motors, analyzers, control valves, pressure transmitters, and level transmitters.
  6. Skilled in troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation systems and experienced in plant maintenance processes.
  7. Ability to work independently, lead teams effectively, and manage multiple tasks within planned schedules.
  8. Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and safety standards.
  9. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
