Electrical Designer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Electrical Designer to join our team in Singapore for a one-year contract, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design and development of electrical systems for power plant projects. This role requires a minimum of ten years of proven experience in power plant electrical design, with a strong understanding of relevant industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
• Perform calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, short circuit, and load flow analysis.
• Select and specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, and protective relays.
• Ensure compliance with relevant international and local electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, SS).
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, instrumentation) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
• Review and approve vendor drawings and technical submittals.
• Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment.
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including design reports, calculations, and drawings.
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and material take-offs.
• Conduct site visits and inspections if necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in electrical design for power plant projects is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of power plant electrical systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution.
• Proficiency in electrical design software such as ETAP, AutoCAD Electrical, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with relevant international and local electrical codes and standards (IEC, IEEE, SS).
• Excellent understanding of electrical equipment specifications and selection criteria.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Experience in site commissioning is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Knowledge of hazardous area classification and design.
• Experience with protection coordination studies.
• Knowledge of Singapore electrical codes and standards will be an advantage.
