The E&I Calibration Engineer ensures the accuracy and compliance of electrical and instrumentation equipment in the Oral Solid Dose Pharmaceutical manufacturing plant. Key tasks include calibration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and validation of critical systems, following GMP and ISO 17025 standards. The role also involves managing contractors and supporting automation system design, commissioning, and validation activities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Calibration & Maintenance:

  • Perform routine and non-routine calibration of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.

  • Develop and implement calibration schedules for critical equipment (e.g., tablet presses, granulators).

  • Maintain calibration records and certificates in compliance with GMP and regulatory requirements.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical/instrumentation devices.

  • Conduct loop checks, signal verifications, and functional testing of control systems.

2. Instrumentation & Electrical Systems Management:

  • Ensure installation, configuration, and maintenance of process control instruments and automation systems.

  • Collaborate with engineering to optimize electrical/instrumentation systems.

  • Assist in commissioning and validation of new equipment.

  • Work with suppliers and vendors for suitable components.

  • Supervise and evaluate in-house calibration contractors.

3. Regulatory Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure calibration/maintenance activities comply with GMP, ISO, and PIC/S.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for calibration and compliance.

  • Support audits by providing required calibration records.

4. Safety & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure activities comply with safety regulations and cleanroom standards.

  • Participate in risk assessments and implement corrective actions.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Project Support & Commissioning:

  • Review design specifications and instrumentation diagrams.

  • Participate in instrument selection, installation, FAT/SAT, commissioning, and qualification.

  • Ensure documentation and traceability of calibration standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering, or a related field

  • At least 8 years in calibration within pharmaceutical/OSD manufacturing; experience with DCS, PLC, SCADA, BMS systems; project experience in system commissioning and validation.

  • Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent; GMP, , PIC/S compliance training; ISO 17025 calibration practices; RCA and FMEA training; PLC, SCADA, and automation systems training.

  • Expertise in electrical instrumentation calibration; strong knowledge of calibration standards (ISO 17025, ISA, NIST); ability to interpret P&IDs and electrical diagrams.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with GMP, , PIC/S regulations; focus on safety and protocol adherence.

  • Able to work in a controlled cleanroom environment, with the ability to lift moderate weights and handle on-call or shift work.
