Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Function as the statutory role of certified Workplace Safety & Health Officer (WSHO) and the site representative to local authorities. Key duties as WSHO include:
  2. Conduct regular EHS inspections with Stakeholders to identify, mitigate hazards and safety gaps at the workplace.
  3. Act as the Deputy Secretary of EHS committee for the sites in Singapore (SG).
  4. Organize and facilitate EHS promotional and training activities.
  5. Track and record the reporting of unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents and accidents to closure via SAI360, company’s digital safety platform.
  6. Ensure continuous improvement of the company’s Safety Golden Rules implementation.

Fire Safety Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Appointed statutory role of certified Fire Safety Manager (FSM) and primary point of contact with SCDF. Key duties as FSM include:
  2. Co-ordinate training and audits of the in-house Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) with Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
  3. Facilitate relevant training to maintain operational readiness of our CERT.
  4. Plan and conduct site fire & emergency response drills.
  5. Identify site fire safety hazards and mitigate first safety risks.

Operational Support:

  1. Provide operational hands-on EHS support. Key duties include:
  2. Facilitate and enforce usage of site permit-to-work (PTW) system.
  3. Provide support in activity-based risk assessments and pre-start-up safety reviews.
  4. Enforce and facilitate usage of EHS Management-of-Change program.
  5. Deliver EHS coaching and training (e.g. safety induction, lessons learned etc.).
  6. Conduct EHS assessments and provide pragmatic EHS solutions and advice, with strong collaboration with Stakeholders.

Incident Response:

Provide first-line response and support to any EHS incidents or emergencies, including reporting, investigation and follow-up actions with responsible Area Managers.

Permit Management:

  1. Manage and support EHS permits application and renewal, including site Fire Certificate, Petroleum and Flammables Materials Storage Permit, ensuring these permits are always valid.
  2. Coordinate with Stakeholders on various industrial hygiene program requirements, such as area & personnel industrial air monitoring, noise mapping etc.
  3. Manage outsourced security team on-site to the expected standard of service.
  4. Maintain certification of ISO 45001 & industrial hygiene monitoring program for SG sites.
  5. Lead EHS engagement programs such as shopfloor awareness, fire safety awareness for SG sites.
  6. Lead SG sites for various global safety initiative roll outs e.g. Security Management, Contractor Management etc.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Health & Safety/ Environmental/ Chemical/ Engineering or related disciplines.
  2. A strong collaborator, with a high level of self-initiative and job ownership, ability to perform with minimal supervision.
  3. Certified WSHO and FSM with around 10 years of industrial experience, preferably within the flavors and fragrance industry, chemical handling & manufacturing or distribution of dangerous goods.
  4. Experienced in managing and implementing EHS programs. Ability to communicate and collaborate with varied levels of Stakeholders on key aspects of EHS.
  5. Trained as an internal auditor for ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 with strong familiarity in their requirements.
  6. Other relevant competencies including Management of Hazardous Substances, Confined Space Safety Assessor, Manage Work At Height (MWAH) etc. would be an added advantage.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
