Pathlight School is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join us as Subject Head for our Vocational Track programme. You will play a key role in leading and developing the curriculum to equip students with practical skills for future employment and daily living.
Your responsibilities will include:
Curriculum and Instructional Excellence
- Develop, review, and improve curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment for specific domains to enhance teaching and learning.
- Model and deliver student-centred, evidence-based lessons tailored to diverse learner profiles.
- Lead the implementation, customization, and evaluation of school-based curriculum or programs.
- Implement frameworks for monitoring instructional programs, classroom practices, and student progress.
- Plan engaging lessons considering diverse learner profiles and use appropriate assessment methods to monitor and support student progress.
Holistic Student Development
- Build strong relationships with students through care and encouragement.
- Design techniques and behaviour plans to manage students with complex behaviours.
- Coach teachers on integrating ITP goals into lesson planning, in collaboration with families and other stakeholders.
- Implement tools and strategies to support ongoing student development and create a safe learning environment.
- Manage emergency situations to ensure immediate safety and follow required school processes.
Mentorship and People Development
- Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship to teachers to encourage performance improvement.
- Facilitate skill development in lesson design, pedagogy, and assessment methods.
- Evaluate progress and performance of direct reports and provide coaching.
- Lead or co-lead discussions and professional learning initiatives.
- Assist in creating professional development plans for assigned domains.
Projects, Programmes, and Initiatives
- Lead or co-lead subject teams, CCAs, and school-wide initiatives/events.
- Plan and implement track-wide programs or initiatives in collaboration with the Head of Track.
Partnerships and Stakeholder Management
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including families, caregivers, community, and commercial partners.
- Develop communication materials for relevant programs and initiatives in collaboration with the Head of Track.
- Maintain direct communications and work in partnership with families to support student learning and post-school outcomes.
- Engage with external stakeholders to support school initiatives and student development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes for school-wide programs.
Organisational Management and Development
- Foster partnerships with stakeholders to support school programs and initiatives.
- Promote a culture of integrity, professionalism, collaboration, and innovation within the school.
- Manage allocated budgets and resources effectively for assigned domains.
Minimum Requirements:
- Min. Diploma in Special Education (DISE) with at least 5 years of experience in vocational training or a related field
- Experience in curriculum development and delivery
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Passion for working with individuals on the autism spectrum
