Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Fellow to work on the LOVING (Learning about Our behavior is Valuable for Increasing Nurturing relationships and healthy Growth) project within the Department of Psychological Medicine. The LOVING project is a multi-disciplinary effort to investigate the impact of improving sensitive caregiving on children’s mental and physical well-being. Appointments will be made on a 2-year contract basis with the possibility of extension based on performance and provided funding is available.

Purpose of the Post

The LOVING project is looking for an organized and passionate postdoctoral fellow to support project management, intervention development, and the proper conduct of a Randomized Control Trial. In addition, the Research Fellow will have opportunities for administering the intervention, data analysis, and/or writing.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Deliver a modified version of the VIPP-SD program (a parent-child intervention program) to families with young children.
  2. Learn to quantify “sensitive caregiving” according to recognized behavioral systems.
  3. Comfortable with having their own images recorded and used in subsequent intervention programs.

Qualifications

Academic Qualification: Background in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field. Greatly preferred if candidate has familiarity with more than one of these fields (e.g., trained as a social worker but additional education or experience on psychology projects).

Language Qualifications: Ability to communicate, read, and write in English.

Certification: Prior certification in the VIPP-SD is highly desirable.

Work Experience: Past experience with parents and young children in a professional capacity. Past experience with home-visiting projects and/or attachment-related interventions is a plus.

Working Style: Detail-oriented, ability to work in a team, organized, and excellent people skills.

Other: Interested in a long-term position (e.g., through 2028); willingness to learn new ways of thinking about behavior; keen observational skills; personable and compassionate; hard working; good self-management; responsible; willing to be flexible in working hours as required by participant schedules; great people skills.
