Summary of the role
As the Payroll Senior Accountant, you will be instrumental in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our Singapore operations. In our dynamic multinational environment, you'll manage payroll administration, commission processing, and the adherence to local statutory requirements (including annual IR8A and IR21 filings) and SOX compliance. Additionally, you will play a pivotal role in the month-end closing process by ensuring that payroll entries and related accruals are meticulously recorded and reconciled. Collaborating closely with our payroll vendor and internal stakeholders from HR and Finance, you will support both routine payroll cycles and month-end closing activities—all while upholding the highest standards in financial reporting, statutory audit, and SOX compliance.
How you will make an impact
In this role, you will:
- Manage End-to-End Payroll Processing:
- Process monthly payroll for Singapore employees, ensuring accurate calculations of salaries, allowances, deductions, and overtime.
- Manage ad-hoc overtime pay runs as required to accommodate additional working hours.
- Collaborate closely with HR and appointed payroll vendor to update and maintain payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and other personnel changes to ensure timely and accurate payroll runs.
- Liaise with the appointed payroll vendor to ensure seamless data exchange and promptly resolve any discrepancies.
- Ensure Statutory Tax Filing & Compliance:
- Managing statutory tax documents, including IR8A and IR21, to ensure compliance with Singapore regulations.
- Support the manufacturing plant on EDB Survey with P&R-related data.
- Keep abreast of local employment laws and statutory requirements to maintain continuous compliance.
- Administer Payroll & Commission Processing:
- Process commission calculations and integrate them into the payroll system.
- Handle payroll administration tasks and maintain meticulous record-keeping.
- Other Accounting Related, Month-End & Audit Support:
- Prepare and review all P&R-related journal entries in Blackline.
- Manage Employee benefits related accruals as part of the month-end closing process, such as leave provision, Flexi benefits, insurance premiums, commission/bonuses, Foreign Worker Levy (FWL), and government grants/bookings for NS, enhanced childcare leave, and maternity leave, and other P&R-related accruals.
- Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations to ensure payroll entries are accurately recorded.
- Provide accurate payroll reports and reconciliations for statutory audits, SOX compliance, and other audit requirements.
- Collaborate & Drive Process Improvement:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (HR, Finance) to resolve payroll-related issues.
- Identify opportunities to enhance payroll processes and strengthen internal controls to enhance efficiency.
- Other Ad-hoc Support & project assigned by management
What you bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced certifications are highly desirable.
- A minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in payroll processing and accounting, ideally within a multinational or complex organizational setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing statutory tax filings (IR8A, IR21) coupled with full-cycle payroll administration.
- A robust understanding of payroll systems, financial reporting principles, and regulatory compliance—including SOX and statutory audits.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, with strong data analysis capabilities.
- Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a meticulous attention to detail for reconciling complex payroll data.
- Careful and rigorous in work, with integrity, steadfastness, and stability. Possesses strong executive ability and can work under pressure. High sense of responsibility and confidentiality, good team spirit, and professional ethics.
