Senior Animator/Video Editor, Content Lab

Job Type: Full-Time

About Us

SPH Media’s mission is to be the trusted source of news and lifestyle content in Singapore and Asia. One of our core purposes is to produce credible, balanced, and objective news and analysis, always with a view to uphold the public good and fostering an informed, engaged citizenry.

We welcome talented individuals to join us and grow a career in a vibrant and collaborative environment built around a culture of respect and inclusivity. As an employer, we are committed to rewarding our people fairly and developing them in their careers.

About the Role

SPH Media’s Content Lab is looking for an exceptional talent to join our award-winning content marketing team as Senior Video Editor. This role is to facilitate and execute innovative and effective branded content across SPH Media platforms, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and more.

The right person for this role has a passion for telling visual stories with heart, innovation, and charm. You are responsible for the handling of motion graphics, animation, and video content, which includes the processing and crafting of our media assets within the content marketing video process. Content Lab’s video output exists in a range of genres and formats, including documentary-style films, motion graphic videos, explainers, animation, and creative short stories. Our client list is diverse, and so is our content.

The role requires a strong sense of experimentation, adventure, and playfulness. You must be an experienced storyteller who is passionate about presenting audio-visual stories that resonate with audiences. You have a diverse and mature technical software knowledge set, patience, and a strong internal rhythm for the momentum and pacing of edits, as well as a keen eye and attention to detail within every scene.

Content Lab works with an army of freelancers to bring our concepts to life – you will work with the video team to facilitate the technical execution and have a strong commitment to see projects through to their completion. Experience with media asset management, non-linear video editing, motion graphics, and having a broad understanding of music and flow will be your bread and butter. Working within a schedule while being able to manage deliverables is essential.

You must be able to collaborate, understand creative instruction, and work well as part of a team. A good bulk of your video output is part of multi-format, multi-channel content campaigns, so you will be joining forces with a larger group of producers, artists, illustrators, animators, and colleagues from our commercial unit.

Responsibilities

  • Work with editors, producers, and directors to craft and edit scripted content from rough cuts into polished media products.
  • Produce motion graphics that supplement the video content, including supers, subtitles, lower thirds, credits, etc.
  • Review, highlight, and rectify errors within any content.
  • Work with Content Lab assets to produce reels and other video packages.
  • Work with our music library to curate a strong storytelling audio experience.
  • Participate in team discussions towards developing actionable strategies for emerging video techniques, formats, and social platforms to grow our content marketing business.
  • Learn and grow your skills while working with other experienced professionals.
  • Comply with media law and ethical guidelines.

Who We Are Looking For

  • At least 6 years’ experience in a relevant role.
  • Strong software skills and understanding of Adobe After Effects is mandatory.
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition is needed.
  • Proven track record as a competent animator. Must be flexible when working within different genres, narrative structures, and timelines.
  • Experience in creating branded content for digital and social platforms is essential. Additional experience creating editorial, non-paid video content is preferred. Additional experience with film and television/commercial editing would be beneficial.
  • Experience working with different formats, mediums, and aspect ratios of video content is necessary.
  • An extraordinary gift for multitasking and meeting deadlines. Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues. Must be an effective communicator and always solution-oriented.
  • Excellent English-language verbal and written skills. Proficiency in Chinese, Malay, or Tamil is a bonus.
  • Deep knowledge of film, pop culture, and industry trends.
  • Proactive self-starter who enjoys a collaborative process. Must play well with others with an “all hands-on deck” attitude.
